I enjoyed Raising Steam. I love Snuff and I Shall Wear Midnight. Someone mentioned that they didn't like Vimes making speeches in Snuff. I agree that it's a bit of a change, however Vimes is getting on a bit, so maybe it's a product of his age - Vimes' age that is

From my point of view, The Colour of Magic, written in 1983, shows a remarkable evolution from earlier works like Strata of Sir Terry as an author. I see a similar evolution throughout the years since 1983 to the present, during which time his observation of human behaviour, together with the ability to mirror back our absurdities, and in more recent books, our cruelties, have been honed. I think it's a natural thing for a writer's style to change over a period of over thirty years.

Sir Terry's is a very specific type type of dementia. The problem with having your own idea about something and then looking for evidence to support it often leads to a an incorrect interpretation of the so-called evidence found.

I can't believe that one person has kept this argument going for two years, continually trying to impose personal views on all other Discworld readers. Perhaps that's his job. Or perhaps "Get a life" is pertinent here.

I think Niall and Huw have it right about Snuff. Some very deep and dark themes and it's right to be thoughtful about them, as well as enjoying the story. I think Sir Terry is as sharp as ever, and is demanding that his readers keep up. The themes in Snuff may be sad, but I love the book!
