after i took a detour -- went from sony -> original nook -> kindle keyboard -- i am back with a sony. i missed the sony reader, it's just so versatile. i picked up a sony prs-t2 last night.
i don't find it an issue either. i did look at the kindle paperwhite, but decided to go back to sony with a prs-t2.
Since the Sony ereaders can read epub books, have you tried other sources to see if the book is available? Like Kobo?
There's a new firmware available from Sony for the PRS-350 and PRS-650.http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/sele...
The update is minor, resolving the following two issues:
1. The Reader cannot open a purchased book and “Protected Page Error” is displayed
2. Annotations on a purchased book are lost
Apple has used its draconian rules for apps to shoot down the Sony Reader App for iOS.http://ebookstore.sony.com/rme/
Sony's trying to open discussions with Apple. I kind of doubt anything will come of it.
NY Times has an article on this situation also:

Adobe is a company.ADE (Adobe Digial Editions) is an ebook reading software written in Adobe Flash.
ADEPT (Adobe Digital Experience Protection Technology) is a DRM scheme that is used as a wrapper around EPUB and PDF files.

EPUB is a ebook format that could be wrapped in DRM -- one of the DRM formats being ADEPT (another is Barnes and Noble's format). Natively, EPUB is not encumbered by DRM and is a free and open standard.

You don't buy books "that have adobe". You buy books that have DRM, the DRM type depends on who you buy it from.
The Sony Reader app for Android has just been released and is available from Android Market. There are conflicting reports on which is the minimum requirements for the app. It is either compatible with Android 2.0 and above; or just Android 2.2 or above.I don't have an Android device, but it would be interesting to hear which it is.
i am not sure why the android one got pushed. i read somewhere that the ios one got pushed because they were getting delayed by apple.
Which Sony Reader do you have (and have had)?I started with the PRS-505 (Christmas gift from wife). Then traded for PRS-300. Now, I have a PRS-650. Love them all!
