I don't have ADE (DRM protected books) yet either; you don't need it to read "normal" .pdf files (=Adobe).

If you buy books as Adobe pdf look out that they aren't "secure" or "encrypted" then you should be able to read them just fine (the "normal" Adobe files).
By example - Samhain has mostly "normal" Adobe books, diesel-ebooks mostly "secure" ones.

You can read all free ebooks with the righ format on your Sony reader - and if you're from USA or Canada, you can use the http://ebookstore.sony.com/

No, you can buy ebooks everywhere you can buy them. Some don't let you download if you're from the wrong country.
I'm from Germany and can't buy in the shop. I download the books from the ebook sites to my computer and via the Library to my Reader.

I have a list of ebook shops but I don't know if FH has books there. There are a lot of shops. Though Google didn't help me much right now.
