We're still trying to confirm exactly when the post-SOAR potluck will be held. Quick question for attendees: are you interested in playing games? We could test-drive some of the games that are in the SRP manual. Or would you rather just munch and mingle?
I think we should do it outside of work hours, because it would be too hard to schedule coverage for all the staff who might want to attend. Plus, since it is an optional program (both the SOAR and the potluck) it it makes sense to do it off of work time.
I was just thinking about what we could do during the summer, when we do the SRP with the public. Perhaps provide regional food at that month's book discussion group, for participants to enjoy before (and possibly during)? We did a party at the end of our SRP for finishers at a local restaurant, but a potluck might also work. What do you think?
Kill the DeadI'm reading Kill the Dead by Richard Kadrey. It's the sequel to Sandman Slim, a novel that I picked up at Comic-Con during a panel on paranormal fiction. Sandman Slim isn't dead, but is no longer quite mortal after fighting gladiator-style in Hell for a few years. In this sequel, he's trying to make a living in Los Angeles and gets hired by Satan to serve as his bodyguard.
Yeah, it sounds silly, but the first book was a lot of fun. Kadrey's Sandman Slim is a tough guy who you can't help but to like.
