Okay...so with DEAD OF NIGHT, JOE LEDGER, ROT & RUIN and V-WARS all in development for film or TV, and GHOST ROAD BLUES being discussed....who would you cast as your favorite characters?

Benny Imura and his friends will return in FIRE & ASH (September 2013).

And look for the novella, DEAD & GONE, an 80-page e-Book for all e-readers. It’s a prequel to FLESH & BONE and introduces the character of ‘Riot’. A second novella, TOOTH & NAIL, will debut in August 2013.

We’re also in SERIOUS discussions about a possible film based on ROT & RUIN. Can’t share any of the details yet, though.

DEAD & GONE was intended as a glimpse into things/people in the Rot & Ruin other than the characters we already knew. There will be more of that in next year's TOOTH & NAIL.

There are also two sets of free bonus scenes --each of which is comprised of glimpses into the past and present of the characters we know.

Crazy. It was bizarre that the publisher put these books out without any indication that they're part of a series. Even now, many printings in, they still haven't added it. Only the audiobook publisher (Blackstone) mentioned that these were part of the Pine Deep Trilogy.

Nice. That's the middle book of the Pine Deep Trilogy (following Ghost Road Blues and preceding Bad Moon Rising).

The book is now called ASSASSIN'S CODE and my editor (and the publisher's lawyers) would have me whacked if I gave the book out early.

I can promise it'll be fun, though. Genetically-engineered vampire assassins and a secret society of women warriors. Joe is in deep trouble.

The story doesn't exactly end there.

There is a novella, MATERIAL WITNESS, set five years later in which Joe Ledger--the hero of my thriller series (Patient Zero, The Dragon Factory, The King of Plagues, etc.) goes to Pine Deep on a case.

Then later this year I'll be posting a couple of short stories online set in Pine Deep.

Lloyd's another wild and crazy guy. We did a couple of panels together at Dragon*Con in Atlanta last year. Hilarious guy.

Jim is a total (but loveable) nutbag. One of my favorite people. And his script for the new version of DAWN OF THE DEAD kicked total ass.

Yeah...

And, of course, in the short story 'Material Witness', Joe Ledger goes to Pine Deep and meets Crow and Mike. Not recommended if you haven't finished the Pine Deep Trilogy. Spoilers.

There are also a lot of real world folks who show up in my books. All friends, of course.

There are frequent quest appearances by members of the Liars Club (my group of writer colleagues): L A Banks, Gregory Frost, Ed Pettit, Don Lafferty, Dennis Tafoya, Jon McGoran, Marie Lamba, Solomon Jones, Merrie Jones, Kelly Simmons, Keith Strunk, and Keith DeCandido. Some of them show up in The Wolfman, Joe Ledger, Rot & Ruin, etc.

My webguy Geoff Strauss and my former nonfic co-author David Kramer make cameos, too.

And in Bad Moon Rising there are a bunch of horror-industry chums: Tom Savini, Ken Foree, Brinke Stevens, Debbie Rochon, James Gunn, Stephen Susco, and Joe Bob Briggs.

Ben from Rot & Ruin is a nod to 'Ben' from NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.

Ben in the Wolfman is a name chosen by David Self, the screenwriter who wrote the original script.

As for Jerry Spencer and Jerry Head... every guy I've ever known named Jerry was smart and reliable. So I guess I grab that name for a character who embodies those qualities.

Yep. Dead Man's Song picks up a couple of hours later...
