Since we can’t get together for book club, let’s try sharing our reading here. I’ve started several books and haven’t finished any. That’s my goal. Finish something! I’m reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, Dune by Frank Herbert, The confessions of Nat Turner by William Styron, The overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harris, The count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas, and Spellbound by Michelle M Pillow. Two of those are books I started for the Great American Read and didn’t ever finish. A couple of best sellers and a book I ordered by mistake. I’ve got to settle down and finish at least one. Which one?
How about reading something we haven’t read from The Great American Read?Beth and I are reading A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, if you want to join us. If you want to read something else on the list, that’s fine. We can talk about which books we think are the best.
I really enjoyed it, too. I can’t imagine what his life must have been like. His family was really supportive and I’m glad he made friends at school. The school also tried very hard to make it a good year for him. Did anyone see the movie?
Anyone have a suggestion for our next book? Something you’ve read that you think the rest of us would enjoy?
I created a new topic for Sue Grafton. Beth and I had trouble getting into this book after reading Janet Evanovich. More description, not as funny.
Sue Grafton sounds good to me. Anyone have a favorite.? Shonna likes to start with number 1 . A is for Alibi?
Can you pick a favorite character? I love Lula with her spandex and donuts, and gun toting grandma who’s ready for anything. And the hamster. I guess I really like them all.
I have two copies of Ten Big Ones at the store. I think Beth has one at home or you can find it online. Do you want to set a date to have the book finished?
