It's a bit hard to classify, because in a lot of ways it's a horror story ABOUT horror stories, and genre entertainment in general, with satire. The lead character is trapped in a zombie movie, and in addition to having to survive the zombies themselves, he has to figure out the plot and complete the film...including surviving the action scenes AND working his way through the character-driven parts of the plot (including awkward conversations and helping the characters complete their arcs to allow him to move forward).
Hm, I guess I should include some info about myself also. I used to work as a book reader at an agency in L.A., and in that job (and on my own) I had to read, summarize, dissect and review the strengths and weaknesses of hundreds of books and screenplays by amateurs and published authors over the course of several years. I've also been writing for quite awhile, so I have a bit of a psychotic database of storytelling fundamentals in my head. I also firmly believe in the importance of entertainment, clarity, and conciseness in writing, and those were my goals with this one...so it's jammed into 60,000 words (215 published pages according to Kindle, the PDF is 180) and moves *very* fast. I have a touch of OCD also unfortunately, but in this case it means that a rather obsessive amount of work went into defining the situation, the plot, and even the mythology of my fake Zombie-movie franchise that the character gets stuck in, including the plot holes and characters he has to interact with and use to get through.
There's enough set-ups, references, and subtexts for several readings. It was adapted from a movie script I wrote years back that had quite a few fans.
Thanks for checking me out, and if you'd like a free copy, let me know!
