For this week's activity, I chose the book
"Insight" by: Diana Greenwood. I thought it looked interesting, so I entered into that giveaway.
I am currently reading
"There's No Place Like Home" by: Jen Calonita.
In my book, Kaitlin is filming a new TV show, practicing her driving skills, filling out college applications, and trying to figure out what movie to film this summer. She got into a terrible accident and now is in a dream about what her life would be if she wasn't an actress. Kaitlin is a teenager who is blonde, tall, and very pretty. She is always busy and stressed out.
I feel that if our school got uniforms, it would be a good and bad thing. Getting uniforms would be a good thing because everyone would have to dress the same minimizing cliques; brand names wouldn't matter anymore. This is also a bad thing because people want to be rebellious and probably wouldn't follow the dress code rules. Making everyone wear a uniform doesn't let you express yourself freely either. I think if SRRHS got school uniforms, the school would be more unified, and people would bully and harass their peers less.
I have also read
"Airhead" by: Meg Cabot
and I haven't started
"Sideways on a Scooter" by: Miranda Kennedy
yet.
I am reading:
"Being Nikki" by: Meg Cabot
I really like this series; the first book was called "Airhead." In the previous book ("Airhead"), Nikki Howard was a famous model working for Stark Enterprises while Emerson was a normal girl. When Em has to take her sister to the grand opening of a Stark Megastore, something goes terribly wrong. Emerson has a brain transplant in Nikki's body. In book #2 ("Being Nikki"), Emerson has to live in Nikki's body and learn how to become Nikki. As the mystery of Stark unfolds, bad things start to happen to Nikki (really Emerson) and her family and friends.
If I had to choose one person from history to eat dinner with, I think I would choose Amelia Earhart because I am interested in finding out where she disappeared to on her last flight. I would also want to know why she started to fly in the first place and what she was feeling when she knew that she was probably going to die. I think we would talk about her life, my life, and society today. We would eat LeeAnn Chin. YUM!
I just finished reading:
Right at the end, Ruby and Nate got back together. Nate finally let Ruby tell someone about the abuse he was getting from his dad, and Ruby told Cora (her older sister). Cora helped him get away from his dad because she worked as a family lawyer, but Nate did have to move back to his mom's house away from Ruby. Also, Cora finally got pregnant, and Ruby got into college.
I dislike that the ending was so sudden. It took many chapters to lead up to about four paragraphs of the end. Whenever an author does this in a book, I get frustrated. That's the only part I disliked about this book. What I really loved in this book was the characters and the plot in the story. Ruby was a very interesting character, and I was glad to see that she moved on from her previous lifestyle. This past week, I read the whole "Lock and Key" book (422 pages).
My favorite character in "Romeo and Juliet" is Mercutio. I feel that he is very witty and a little sarcastic. I also feel that I know people like Mercutio; they are funny, but you don't know if they're serious or not, which helps me to understand Mercutio's character more.My least favorite character is the Nurse. The first time I noticed her was when Lady Capulet was talking to Juliet about her marriage to Count Paris. She kept interrupting their conversation, and I found it very annoying. Also, I found it a little creepy when she thought Mercutio was flirting with her in Act II, Scene IV. I feel like she is always getting in the way of the other characters.
