Magdelayne, Think of you often, especially recently as we have been approaching the 2021 Winter Solstice. I remember it being one of your favourite times of the year. Wanted to drop in to Flight Paths and wish you Happy Winter Solstice. May you and everyone else in the group enjoy not just the first day but the entire winter season and take time to cozy up and enjoy great books. Blessings and Joy to all. MJ
@ Megan,I don't often participate in this group but I do check out the posts occasionally. They're on my Goodreads' feed as well.
I did notice your absence and am so sorry to learn why. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I am so happy that your son is currently much better but can't imagine the stress that you and your husband must have gone through during your son's illness....and continuing today, not sure of his future prognosis.
Take care of yourself, your husband and son. Supporting each other, you will be stronger together.
xox MJ

Austerlitz by W.G. Sebald translated by Anthea Bell is one you've read and rated 5 stars. Looks interesting but unfortunately right now it seems too depressing for me to give it a go. Take care.

Just browsing and think the book you're looking for might be Midnight Train to Prague by Carol Windley who is a Canadian author from B.C. Haven't read it but it sounded like your clues.
@ Ellie - am a friend of Magdelanye, Megan and some others in this group. Often read what you're all reading for inspiration and hadn't wanted to join before.....until I just realized I couldn't make any comment unless I joined.Didn't want to pass on making a comment about Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion by Gregory Boyle that you're reading. I read it in 2011 and also found it uplifting and amazing and rated it 5 stars. Thanks for the reminder to read it again.
