I scheduled a giveaway that will start Feb. 1st, and I'm worried that the cover hasn't appeared when I look at it. Can I upload it? Will it appear in the public version when the giveaway starts? Is there any way to reach the people in charge and ask about this?
I'm not in Select, it would be too much trouble to take the book out of all the other markets. But I will go looking for people in other threads.
Hi there. Is anyone here? I haven't been on Goodreads much for a while. I just created a Createspace edition of "Mama" and I have scheduled a giveaway that will run during February.
Technical question: Twice today I updated my progress in a book, and Goodreads posted on Facebook. I didn't want that to happen. How can I make it stop?Frankly, I want whatever happens on Goodreads to stay on Goodreads, and the same for Facebook. I don't like all this automatic connection between everything.
I really liked the Gap series, his SF trilogy. It's rare in science fiction that emotions are so important. Most of Donaldson's characters in all his books are unable to express emotions. I know there is a third Covenant trilogy but I wonder if I should reread earlier ones first, it's been decades since I read them.
Your link to Xanthan Gumm actually goes to "The Seeds of Time" by Fredric Jameson.Actually, I forgot to make this change here on Goodreads to it will be the same as Amazon. I will do that.
By they way, I recently added my middle initial to my name on Amazon, because a bunch of porn titles have appeared under the name Robin Reed. To find my books now please look for Robin. M. Reed.
Since there are no rules here in Robust, I guess I can tell you I have two horror titles. "Halloween Sky and Other Nightmares" is a short story collection, and "Mama" is a novel. For horror I use the pen name Robin Morris.
He's quite different than King, he wrote in the 1920's and 1930's and has an almost 19th century style. Try a short story collection to get a taste.
I don't know what Lovecraft's "message" would be. That seems a strange reason not to read him.The racist thing is clear in several stories, mainly ones set in New York. Lovecraft came from an old money family that had lost their money. They looked down on anyone who actually worked for a living. They were scandalized that he married a woman who owned a shop. The marriage didn't last long, he hated New York where she lived. I say all that to say that I can't blame him for ideas that were part of his family and very common at the time.
I love much of his work, the themes and ideas have become background for a lot of horror these days.
Ken, since ebook self publishing has removed all that BS, I hope you will take advantage of it. Make sure that the book really is good, though, before you proceed. Get some people to read it and don't reject any suggestions they have just because you know you're brilliant. Get ready for some hard, frustrating work when it comes to marketing. See you on Amazon.
I found a way to disconnect Facebook in the apps. I don't know how it got connected, but these social networks do sneaky things. Thanks everyone.
I don't know where else to ask. Does anyone know why Goodreads is posting stuff on my Facebook page? I didn't tell it to do that. How does it even know what page to post on? I don't need every little thing I do here sent to Facebook.
A forum with no rules, yet the discussion is civilized and thoughtful? Can this happen?I am a writer, cartoonist, and bus driver, though I hope to shed the last part soon. On the other hand, I have been doing crappy day jobs for many years, why would I be able to live on my creativity now?
I have ebooks for sale under both my real name, Robin Reed, and a pen name, Robin Morris. The latter is for horror, the former for everything else.

I was interested in the title of this thread because Jeff Bridges was computerized into a younger version of himself for Tron Legacy. Also, dead movie stars have made short appearances in movies. So it's not that much of a stretch to think of making a movie starring a dead movie star.
