In our Standard Rules, it states:
✱ When you have finished, please re-post your whole challenge as a new message and MARK AS FINISHED or you will not be considered to have completed the challenge and we will not be able to award your Hall of Fame badge.

This has been the rule since I joined this group as a moderator in 2017. It is required to earn a badge. Badges will NOT be awarded if you DO NOT REPOST!
The ONLY exception is if you are having problems with Goodreads. You MUST state this in your repost.

Genevieve and I post between 13-15 challenges a month. In December we will be posting some of the new 2022 A-Z Yearly Challenges. In January we will have more challenges than we usually post in a month. It is a lot and it takes a lot of time to go through the notifications and link members and award badges. Please help us by following the rules.

That was a completely different issue. They turned them off on purpose for like two months to put in some other crappy change. Then pretty consistently they break notifications for a few hours or a few days. But this was an intentional "FIX" to keep us all from getting spammed by people we don't know, by turning off a setting without telling us they did it. And in order to get the stuff you want? You have to turn it back on and you still get spammed. If you were even getting spammed at all which I think most had no problem with. Not a fix at all.

Pretty much everything they do is crap.

They finally fixed the app when you friend people to actually make them answer the security question before sending the friend request - and broke it in the desktop version. Now you can't enter anything and can't friend them from the desktop if they have a security question.

People were making links that sent people to questionable sites so they made it so we can't put external links at all - so links to spinners, and dice rollers, and challenge stuff - just can't do it anymore.

Amazon wants the business of linking us to them so they can hawk the books, but not interested in the actual community and what it does.

I think the setting for getting messages on topics (email notifications) is different than this issue. What GR did is change everyone's default for private messages - so when we mods send out newsletters, announcements, or try and contact a person directly instead of blasting their name throughout the group we can't do it - unless the person changes their setting for PM's back to everyone.

For the emails on notifications of threads - you can turn that on and off in the settings also - and you can turn off whether you get notifications at all on a thread by thread basis.

I haven't really found the everyone setting to be a problem. If someone keeps PM'ing or weirds me out you can block them. I've only had it happen a couple times in many years time.

It makes me angry that they do these kinds of thing without notifying people. It took me a couple days to realize the reason I wasn't getting a response to mod messages sent was because no one was getting them. Frustrating.

This is apparently a permanent thing - another one of their stupid decisions. Someone is abusing it so, shut it down completely.

Any a href thing you do, if it doesn't point to a GR link, it won't let you save the comment. So anywhere you've done this, you can no longer edit your comments (I have challenges where I link to dice rollers and spinners, etc. - other people have images on other sites) or create new comments with them in it.

Half the year is officially over. Time is going so fast - again. Enjoy the latest batch of challenges!
