Hahaha, I just hit you on Shelfari!

Your book looks really interesting (plus great reviews). I'd defiantly be up for a swap. Just send me a message when you are ready.
OPEN INTERNATIONAL, I am giving away a signed hardback copy of The Weeping Empress. http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho...
It can also be downloaded for free here on GR, for those of you who like a little more instant gratification.
I hired someone to design it for me. I know it is something I could do, but I work with words not visuals and didn't trust my own judgement on this one.
I'm really pleased with it. I have gotten quite a few compliments.
Rhonda wrote: "Sadie wrote: "I offered to donate a couple of my books to my local library. They said they couldn't accept donations, but would buy them. It didn't feel like a brush off, but we'll see if they real..."Well, I am in the UK. Maybe the rules are different.
I work with Lulu. Granted I did pay someone to do the formatting and am very happy with it. (My print book prefaced the eversion.) I have also been very happy with the quality of my books from Lulu. This may be as much about formatting as with Lulu. I've never had them print anything that wasn't professionally formatted, so I wouldn't know about that.As an aside, I might be wrong but I think the actual physical printing from Lulu actually comes from Lighting source anyway. I emailed them once and the response I received came from a Lulu rep who said the question had been forward to them.
I offered to donate a couple of my books to my local library. They said they couldn't accept donations, but would buy them. It didn't feel like a brush off, but we'll see if they really do it.
Hello everyone, another epic fantasy author here. The Weeping Empress is about a woman's unwilling quest to defy fate. Its full of action, swords (of the katana type), and intrigue.Synopsis:
Chiyo Alglaeca was happy in her life. That is, until it was all taken away. Forced into notoriety, stalked by a mysterious cult, hunted by the emperor, and facing betrayal at every turn she clings to the only safety she can find: two enigmatic men and the sharp bringer of death, Salvation. The Weeping Empress explores the devastating effects of loss, the hunt for redemption, and the price of destiny. It questions the true meaning of evil and asks what monster is not also an innocent
I've presumptuously added it to the group list, and it happens to be free to download here at GR at the moment so why not go ahead and grab a copy.
I agree with Y.I. and Rhonda on both points. I prefer paperbacks really, but I spend a lot of time commuting by bus and my ereader is just more convenient at these times.
I have a particular penchant for signed books. I just love knowing that the actual author touched the pages I'm holding. I don't know if I'm the only one here who feels like this. But functioning on the premise that I'm not, I am offering to swap a signed copy of my book, The Weeping Empress, for the signed copy of another. Not only will I then have new signed books, my summer reading list will be set. Let me know if your interested, or PM me.
Edit: I was asked a very reasonable question. What genre do I like? My preference is sci-fi, fantasy & spec fic, but I would be interested in almost anything except romance. Nothing against it, but it isn't my thing.
Unless I think it is just promotional/advertorial in some fashion I generally friend back anyone who friends me (when did that become a verb anyway). I love it when readers do this. I really like the interaction. But under normal circumstances I would not request a reader friend me. I would be afraid that if they haven't read the book yet they may feel I am hovering over their profile waiting for a review. I imagine this to be an uncomfortable feeling. Being so aware that the writer will be reading the review might also make them feel that they can't be genuine in their review, should they write one.
The Weeping Empress came out in January of this year. It is an epic fantasy with some YA crossover appeal. I'll add the official synopsis below. It follows the adventures of a woman forced by fate into notoriety, and questions the proper place of religion. It has ruffled a few feathers, but was never intended it to be antichurch. If you like stories about women who can hold their own in a fight. You'll likely like this book. Fights in this case usually involve Japanese style katana.
It is available for $0.99 on Kindle, Nook, Goodreads, etc.

I generally write epic fantasy, though it has some surprising YA crossover appeal. I would love to write Sci-fi, but don't now that my scientific know-how is strong enough at the moment. Literary fiction has very little appeal to me. I like escapism too much. I'd love to see where the group as a whole fits.
