Of course they were vampires, with a title like My Blood Approves--meeting a guy late at night who saves the girl from a gang of scary guys--had to be a vampire. This book reminded me of the writing of PC Cast, Stephanie Meyer, and Katie MacAlister, combined. I have to say I wasn't hooked until 3/4 of the way into the story--I kept thinking, this has to get better and not so whiny, then all of a sudden it got better and I really wanted to read the next book.
Jane is a character that allows Alice to ride the edge of bad without getting burned because Jane has all the crazy ideas and acts on them; Alice can take her or leave her. They are not best friends,just juvenile angst buddies. Alice mentions that she knows Jane only wants her for the "designated driver" in the relationship. Milo is the one who keeps Alice grounded, because he is "home". Jane is promiscuous, self absorbed, lost and searching for her "home".

I'd like to try Lynsay sands series starting with A Quick Bite
or Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck
