His books are quite comparable to Ryan's and talk alot about The Detatchment.
I'm foreverfnm or Bec, and I've been reading books about the Regiment for the past couple of years. I think I love these types of books because of the insight into something I am so far removed from. I'm also interested in military history, so when I'm not doing ~serious~ research, I kick back with one of these books!I've read quite a few books from McNab and Ryan. I have just started to read Falconer... and they are pretty good too! I've read all of the 'spider' Shephard series even though it's not pure ex-Regiment buisness.
My favourite ex-member turned author would probably be Ryan... I enjoy his stories more, although I would say McNab is a better writer. But my favourite author who writes about a regiment character would be Stephen Leather. His 'Spider' Shephard series is all about an ex-SAS guy turned undercover cop. It's amazing how often he falls back upon his previous career though!

Ooh! I started reading the Nick Stone series in the middle of the series too! I've still got half of it to go too.
I've just started reading Stand By, Stand by, and I'm only a chapter through! So I can't offer any spoilers.
