I feel like I just finished reading the transcript of a storyboard of a Wes Anderson movie. I know we said that we appreciated having some answers when we met last week, but now that I have all those answers...

I have learned so far in reading this chapter that while shaving I ought, like Bloom “with thought of aught he sought though fraught with nought”

I love the little nuggets in this chapter!

“...every country, they say, our own distressful included, has the government it deserves”

If any of you disagree with me, I will be “rather inclined to poohpooh the suggestion as egregious balderdash” :)

It’s rather exhausting being inside people’s heads for so long, but I found this chapter to be an easier read than we’ve had for awhile.

“Do fish ever get seasick?” reminded me of our Infinite Summer last year :)

I’m not sure how I would film it, but that makes sense! It’s interesting that it starts with a priest and ends with a procession

I found myself wanting to read all of this out loud, which is actually quite satisfying but also nearly impossible in places!

I love how cinematic this whole chapter is...like one continuous, circling shot through the bustling streets and alleys

I love the description of the library in Stephen’s inner monologue: “Coffined thoughts around me, in mummycases, embalmed in spice of words....They are still. Once quick in the brains of men. Still: but an itch of death is in them, to tell me in my ear a maudlin tale, urge me to wreak their will” 👌🏻🔥

Well! I can’t say I’m super confident about everything I just read, but I think I have the gist. Most of the (what I assume to be) jokes went straight over my head, but I definitely laughed out loud at the promised algebraic calculations about Hamlet. Still pondering the given section title though...
