I think I would have preferred more plot, and some of the things that did happen seemed kinda implausible (basically the lengths Mrs Richardson goes to to find out information about Mia’s past). I liked reading about the relationships between mothers and daughters and the various ways in which they can be complicated.
Moody’s Nice Guy TM attitude bothered me but he is also a teenage boy who is socialized into that entitlement so I can’t say that’s not realistic. *shrugs*
I appreciated Lexie’s character becoming more and more complex throughout the story and especially after her abortion. I also liked how there wasn’t really any shame about abortion in the book, unless I missed something. So that’s a plus!
I really didn’t like the sickly sweet envelope thing at the end.
Anyway I don’t read lots of novels so I’m curious as to what other people think!
#2 I actually think I found the relationship between Mia and Izzy the most compelling (don’t know if that counts for this question!). I loved the way Izzy found so much comfort in and inspiration from Mia, and it also warmed my heart how open and loving Mia was to Izzy. I just thought it was such a special relationship and I really liked that aspect of the book.
I think if I had to narrow it down it would be either the Immortalists or Little Fires Everywhere. That being said, I haven’t read any on the list so I’m flexible!
