I love Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe, Evanovich's Stephanie Plum(made me laugh out loud in the doctor's office), the Mrs. Jefferies stories by Emily Brightwell (for the totally oblivious Detective Witherspoon) and the Charolette MacLeod/Alisa Craig series ( they are full of puns and crazy situations)
