52537 I agree Lucy, didn't like it at all!

52537 Me too, but then I don't really want to reread the old one before the new one, not patient enough!

52537 I have started it. I forgot about a lot of the story but I'm getting into it again now
Gone Girl (15 new)

52537 I found it a really unpleasant book, and I read another of hers which I also thought was pretty horrible to be honest. Not keen at all!

52537 I started it last night :-)

52537 Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy #2) by Deborah Harkness has arrived!!

52537 Hi Sophia - I've finished.

I loved this book. I agree with Pi about his spirituality - I am a Christian but there are so many overlaps with other religions, I can see how it is very easy to subscribe to them all.

I actually thought the original story was much more plausible, and the second one was much more gruesome. Animals need to kill each other to survive, I don't think that the people here were at that stage yet.

I think Pi had to tame Richard Parker or he would have been eaten alive. And the way it is described is again, completely realistic.

I thought this book was great - everyone should read it!

52537 I'm so glad this is our read and it's off my TBR, I read 15% last night and I'm loving it so far......

52537 I read The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins itself before I knew there was a film, and I did enjoy it for light reading - you could do it in a day Sophia and then you'd see if it was worth reading the other 2?

You select bookcover, rather than book Aimee. You can change them manually by editing the bit in aquare brackets from book to bookcover :-)

52537 The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection by Alexander McCall Smith - I love these books, they are just gentle, kind stories.
Anno Dracula (Anno Dracula, #1) by Kim Newman - bit of a cheat really as it's been republished - but actually 20 years old.........
RSVP by Helen Warner - this one looks like an easy read

52537 I agree Kirsty, I don't think Aibileen was keeping quiet, I think she was trying to change things quietly, but in a very effective way.

52537 Dustcover :-(

52537 They quite often have new releases for around 4 pounds Ness, I think they're always worth a look :-)

52537 It was from The Book People. £3.99 and no postage costs this week. The cover I have is black, it looks gorgeous.

52537 It's really good. You can have it when I've finished if you like?

It's written as a factual account and is apparently broadly true, but the characters have really come to life - George is a really sympathetic character that you know can't possibly have been guilty and Arthur comes across as rather pompous and self important which I can imagine is very true to the real ACD.

52537 I am reading Arthur and George at the moment
