Just started ashes of honor. Book six in the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire. They are detective stories set in modern day San Francisco. She is a changeling, half fae, half human. I devour every book and preorder the next as soon as I can. They sate my need for mystery, romance, faerie and fantasy.
Current favourites are Seanan McGuire and her October Daye series. I'm nose deep in book six. They are Fae detective stories. Fairies, mystery, romance... All my favourite genres in one story.I'm up to date and eager for more from Lindsey Davis and her Falco series. Brilliant detective stories set in Ancient Rome.
Also can't wait for more from Stephanie Laurens. She writes exciting sexy regency adventures.
Also love Georgette Heyer, Steven Saylor Bernard Cromwell, Kathy Reichs and Maria V Snyder.
Essentially I'll read anything if its exciting, clever and has a smattering of passion.
Yes, I love Persephone! It's where I heard of The Shuttle. I have a few of their books. They are gorgeous. I really want to go to the shop in Lambs Conduit Street, London one day. I need to seriously save up first though...
I've just finished reading The Shuttle by Frances Hodgson Burnett. She is most famous for The Secret Garden. I really enjoyed it, it's a turn of the century tale of a ruthless English aristocrat, marrying a young rich american heiress and how her sister saves her. I have also really enjoyed reading The making of a Marchioness by the same author. Does anyone else like discovering hidden gems by favourite authors?
I have a day off work and earache and a horrible cold, so free a long hot shower I am determined to get down to some productive book time. I have about four books half started. I will try to finish Forever by maggie Stiefvater today. Maybe dip into The Fry Chronicles.
I devoured HP and loved unashamedly the Twilight series. Actually, the Twilight Moms forum led me to the Poison Study and the Spy Glass Trilogies. I tend to find myself browsing the YA sections for something I know I'll enjoy. I really like Maggie Stiefvater books. Prefer the pixie ones to the Wolf ones, but all good escapism. I think that's why I like YA. I've had a tough couple of years in real life, so some unadulterated teenage fantasy is a joyful escape. :)
Hello. I've just joined. I have The Princess Bride and Nine Coaches Waiting by Mary Stewart on the go. Naymee
Hello, I'm Naomi. Naymee on the forum. I've been all round quiet for ages as there has been two years of an absconding ex husband, three traumatised kids, me going quietly nuts and gradual recovery. One of the things I feel most acutely is the loss of the things I used to enjoy - Lush forum and reading books being two of them. So here I am, back with renewed purpose. I fully intend to get back into the community and enjoy the books I used to love once more!
