What about The Smiths? I never really even listened to them until last year, after several songs were featured in a cute movie, (500) Days of Summer, and I like them, but can't get a handle on if they were SERIOUS, and if so, were they taken seriously, or were they just like a boy band?

Not by much, but still, from your blog pics and stuff, I thought you were in your early 30's. And while I have NEVER actually done The Bird, The Time's "Ice Cream Castles" is still in heavy rotation in my iPod
While not exactly a Mensa-level book full of metaphors and hidden meanings, Alchemy HAS inspired lots of questions from people at book signings and reading, so if you have any, I'd be more than happy to try to answer them here
I was born in 1970, so the 80's coincided perfectly with my double digit and teen years. I spent the first few years of the decade waiting anxiously for Twisted Sister videos on MTV, riding my bike, collecting Pac-Man cards from the ice cream man, and peeling stickers off my Rubik's Cube to "solve" it. By the mid 80's, I was rocking the mullet and white jeans look, trying my best to get the attention of girls and then running away petrified when I did. I spent the late 80's wearing those ever so fashionable wrestler pants and completing Basic Training at Fort Benning, GA.
