54907 In a court of law I think E and Noodles should not be punished equally because they both did steal, but Noodles stole and trashed Ona's house so I think he should get a different punishment because he did something worse than E. For example, E stole so he could take Ona to the dance, wear new clothes, and help out his family. This shows that E stole because he had no other options. Another example, Noodles always tries to get money off of girls at the mall. He also steals all the time and messed up Ona's house which he should not have done. This shows that Noodles should not be punished equally as E because he steals very often, and trashed/robbed someones house. Also E felt bad about stealing and robbing Ona's house while E did not care about stealing or trashing her house.

54907 I think if a man steals bread to feed his starving family it is not wrong because he is still stealing for a good reason and is trying to help out his family, and to make sure they do not starve. For example, if someone steals something because there parent won't buy it for them that is very wrong but the man was stealing because he has no money and his family was starving so I think it is a different reason to steal. Another reason why I think it is okay for the man to steal the bread because instead of letting his family die of starvation he did something about, and it was his only way of getting food.

54907 Despite all the singing and dancing I think there was realism in West Side Story because there was a lot of racism. For example the Jets fought with the Sharks just because they did not like that they were puerto rican. If the Sharks were not puerto rican the two gangs never would have fought with each other to begin with. Another reason why I think the film had realism in it is because people do things without thinking in real life and then regret it. For example, when they shot Tony at the end they regretted it.

I can relate to growing apart from friends and unfair judgments. I have grown apart from many friends because they either made new friends, forgot about me, or we stopped talking. I can relate to unfair judgments because people all the time judge you unfairly.

54907 I think Soda fights because of loyalty towards the gang. For example, when Pony got into a fight with the Socs when he was walking home from the movies. Soda came and stuck up for Ponyboy. This shows that Soda chose to fight for himself because he was loyal to Ponyboy, and Ponyboy is apart of the gang. Another example, is Soda always fights in the rumbles and finds them fun. He also thinks they are like contests. This shows that by Soda going to the rumbles that he is loyal because he goes to all the rumbles which shows he is loyal because instead he could not fight but he chooses to.

54907 I think the poem "Pygmalion" compares to The Outsiders because Higgins did not treat Liza fairly, was not considerate of her feelings and did not care what she had to say. This relates to the Outsiders because the Socs treat the greasers the same. For example when Higgins said "Oh no, I don't think so. Not any feelings that we need bother about. Have you, Eliza?" This shows that Higgins does not care about other peoples feelings. Another example is that Eliza has no parents. This relates to The Outsiders because Johnny has no parents either.

54907 I agree with this quote because not everything is easily categorized, everything has a gray area. I think regardless of ones background they have multiple struggles and conflicts. Conflicts can stem from ones background but problems come along with everyday life, whether its school, family, work, etc. Cherry did have a right to say this because she knew that no matter what background or race everyone has issues with themselves or with other people.

54907 I agree with this statement because I think people should come together as a community, especially when he says his fellow men because if they did not work together as a community many people would die in wars and there would be fights because they wouldn't come together and get along with each other.

A real situation in which a community united to make change was during 9/11 everyone helped each other, people volunteered to help people that were in hospitals, others helped search for dead bodies, and the community came together to make a change by making our country safer.

54907 I just read Marriage Economy:'I couldn't Afford To Get Divorced on npr.org. The purpose of the article was to show that many families cannot afford a divorce and being poor can ruin their relationship and make them want to get a divorce. The writer was addressing it to an audience to people who are in the same situation that can't afford a divorce. The writer did not provide fair information because the writer was not bias they just stated facts like if couples relationship changed because of finances and they did a vote. There was none of the writers opinion so they were not bias.

54907 Sorry I'm not a Stereotype applies to Absolutely True Diary because in both the people make stereotypes about Indians, and just assume and think that they look and live a certain way. For example it says "You don't look Indian, a woman told me once. She seemed disappointed. I asked her what an Indian is supposed to look like. "You know. Long black hair, braids, feathers, beads." That woman made a stereotype and judged her. Also in Absolutely True Diary all the kids at Rearden made stereotypes, and judged Arnold, they made fun of his name, the way he looked, and where he came from.

Arnold's life is different from the author's because Arnold grew up on a reservation, and the author was born, and raised in Chicago. Arnold's perspective is different from the author's because the author is honored to be Indian, and Arnold is like embarrassed to be a Indian, he wants to be like the white people at Rearden.

54907 I think Arnold tells Rowdy he will "die" if he stays because it's a excuse for Arnold to leave the reservation, without everybody else hating on him for leaving. Also I think he says he will "die" because if he doesn't leave he will have no hope, and he won't become anything in life, like everybody else on the reservation. Most of them are just drunks, and poor. Arnold actually wants to become somebody, not like his parents, and sister.

I think Rowdy doesn't go with Arnold because he feels he is not good enough to go to Rearden, thats why he told Arnold you think your so much better than me to go there, and I'm not. Plus Rowdy thinks that living on the reservation is what he has to do, that he is not suppose to change his life, Rowdy has set in his mind that you have to live on the reservation and thats it, thats where you live. Also he doesn't have enough hope to go to Rearden he thinks he can't do a lot besides bullying people.

54907 I interviewed my mom. Her object was a diamond necklace. It's a precious diamond. that's platinum gold. She was given this necklace as a present after enduring surgery, that included 6 months of chemotherapy. Its her good luck necklace because now she has good health since she has had it. It is important because it is now 12 years later, and she can now proudly state that she is a true survivor.
