In a court of law, Noodles and E shouldn't be punished equally. For example, Noodles went and stole more than E. This shows that in real life, they changed the type of punishment depending on what you did. Another example is that Noodles vandalized Ona's house and he stole from them. E didn't part take in this event so he shouldn't be held accountable. This proves my point on why E shouldn't be punished the same way Noodles is getting punished.
I do believe there is realism in West Side Story. Take out the singing and dancing, it's a forbidden romance between a boy and a girl. They're also gangs that fight in this movie. In real life they're gangs that don't like each other and so they fight. There's also the discussion of racism. Racism is all around us. That's why I believe the movie has realism.I can relate to defending honor. For example, my brother wasn't the best student. In fact he wasn't close. Sure he got good grades but he didn't know how to shut up. When he left the school there was some guys who worked up rumors of him. They kept saying how he was trash and dating every single girl. I finally found who they were and talked to them. At the end, they looked like stupid idiots just wanting attention.
I agree with Cherry's statement. I also believe that she had the right to say that. Just because you have a money doesn't mean things aren't "Rough all over". Everyone has problems. The age, race and amount of money has nothing to do with anything. I do think people regardless of their struggle or background have problems.
Cicero once said, "We were born to unite with our fellow men, and to join in community with the human race." I absolutely agree with this quote. It's saying that we were destined to unite with the other people and then go into a commuinty where you support, care after one or another.I agree with the example that Alice has so I'll add on. In Rizzoli & Isles there was Boston Strangler Like 40 years later. He kept killing people and the all wanted to stop him. They figured out who it was and after Rizzoli beat him up with a baseball bat for taking her lover Dr.Isles hostage, they sent him off to jail. THey all had the common interested to catch the bad guy to make everyone's home safer.
I think when Mr. P says "Kill the Indian to save the child" means that the parents are bringing down the kids. If the Indians weren't there being such a bad influence on the children, the children can go above and beyond. I think when Arnold says that his sister is "Trapped" i think it means that she is trapped into being nobody. Her parents are drunks. Nobody does anything. There all poor, and don't try. She's trapped inside being nothing. I truly think she scared to do something big.
I asked my mother what was close to her and she responded and said a teddy bear. Interview...Me: What did the teddy bear look like?
Karin(mother): It was white. With black eyes, it wasn't very big.
Me: Was there something different about this bear that made you love it so much?
Karin: I got it Valentines day.
Me: YEOO you got it Valentines day? Who gave it to you?
Karin: John, it was our first valentines day together.
Me: AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Karin: Hahaha
Me:Was the bear a guy or a girl?
Karin: Male. His name was Soldier Boy.
(John was a Solider)
Me: When you looked into Soldier Boys eyes did you think of John.
Karin: Yes because he went into the army shortly after. I felt like he was always with me when he wasn't.
Me: (Fakes wiping tears) Is there anything else that you would like to say about that very special teddy?
Karin: Just that hes been in storage since John died.
Me:(Gets up and hugs mom)
