The first books I remember "reading" were Dr. Seuss. One of my favourites was Bartholomew and the Ooblek, because we also had the 'lp' to go along with it. The additional audio input was memorable. Along with that, we had an audio version of The King, The Mice, and the Cheese that also immediately come to mind.
As a Gr. 4 teacher, I found the story, The Lorax to be so effective in reinforcing the concepts of the Waste & Our World unit.
