15851722" Ok I haven't read this book yet but I plan to despite all the reviews I have been reading. Let me say I love this author and I think her writing is on a whole other level. It's not just about the hood and drugs or a hard lifestyle, it's is the message and the bigger picture only mature people will be able to understand. Some readers are saying the book is not good at all, or that it's just like the Midnight book, also they say the Coldest Winter Ever is the best book thus far. Well I liked the first book don't get me wrong but I can see how some people can't appreciate Midnight's two book and this last one (even though I haven't read the last one yet) The reason why they can't appreciate Midnight is because there wasn't a lot of drug related "gansta" stuff happening. The book was about LOVE people, pure love and what you would do for it. It was also about family and what you would do to take care of your family, it was about learning a new culture, exploring a different world. But is doesn't amaze me that some people are discrediting these books because there isn't enough of the typical drama you would find in a urban genre, urban author, urban topics. But this is where they are wrong because this author is not just urban she is an astonishing author that boggles my mind on how she can put all that information and imagination and knowledge and still find time to throw some love in it. I am not mad at all that it takes so long to get a book from her, LOOK at all the information she had to learn the research she had to do. When she puts pen to paper it explodes and I would read anything she writes because I have not limited myself to 'urban drama" Someone actually wrote in their review that she has her characters acting like 40yrs old adults and that's not how children act, think, or talk. Well they are right about that last part but they are wrong in the sense that these characters have not had a childhood. They have had to grow up fast due to their environments, parents or lack there of, they have to know how to survive so they are most definitely not thinking like children. Which proves my point that they really had no idea what they were reading or what the books were about. Sister Souljah wowed them with The Coldest Winter Ever and in a way she inadvertently misled them. Let's face it everyone can't see the grey area's or read between the lines and I'm so glad I'm not one of those people. All her books are great to me and I will continue to be a fan. Tip to those who don't understand: It takes a literary mind to appreciate and differentiate between a lusty story and a cultivated and concise novel to say the least. Beautifully Authored(less) "
First I have to say I am truly disappointed with this last book. How long I'd waited to read more of Sookie. Now I will admit that as the series gets longer and longer Sookie was becoming a little bit of a slut and just getting into all kinds of things. And I say that to say this, at least she was being her own old clumsy country self. But in this book you barely even know her. I mean did she even read anyone mind, or say anything stupid, and what's with all this complicated mess about her uncle and the fairies. I think Harris had forgotten her own character whom I love so much, she has focused so much on cramming a bunch of nothing into this back and the one before this one that she forgot about what makes Sookie, Sookie. I can't say that I won't read another book in this series if it comes out but I hope Harris really goes back and re reads her own work and remember who and what the main character represents.... And I know Sookie has moved on but Bill is such a likeable guy I just hate to think he is forever dead to Sookie.
Ok I must admit I cheated a little with Harry Potter. Sometimes because of my work schedule I can't have a book in my hand twenty-four-seven like I'd like so sometimes I listen to audio on my ipod. I have listened to all of Harry Potter books on audio several times and I have all the dvds as well. I love this kid whom i have had to pleasure of watching grow up in my mind and on screen. Authors never seen to amaze me with their imagination and to think Rowling came up with this as a story just to tell her kids!?! Great story. You just kept wanting to know when will Lord Voldemort die,I mean how many horcruxs does he have? I was so thrilled to see all the children finally coming together to defeat him and his army in the end. Although it was sad that people actually died in Harry Potter. I mean it isn't you typical kid story. I like how the author wasn't afraid to do that or eliminate characters that we liked in order to tell the story. And yes no one could have told me after reading the very first book that Ron would be the one to get Hermione but it worked out so well didn't it...
I first found out about this author looking on amazon trying to find something new to read and I came across The Snowman. After reading this book I honestly fell in love with this author. I tend to lean more towards crime fiction that has to do with unsolved murders and such (see it's not all about erotica with me). This book gave me just what I was looking for. I had been longing to read about a detective like this one who just had a certain get in your face attitude and and a no nonsense way of finding the culprit. I had no idea this was in a series of books and that I was already so far down the line. The story picked me right up and never made me felt like I had more to read to understand where I was in the series, in fact I have now been reading backwards as much as I can and still have had no trouble following the story lines. All of his books have not been converted to English yet but let me tell you I have all the ones that have. Nesbo reminds me of Lawrence Sanders (a now deceased author) but a great one that wrote the Deadly Sins series. If you like Harry Hole you will love the detective in those novels as well. I challenge any reader that like crime fiction focused on some type of murder to pick up his books as well and let's talk about it.
Honestly I have found that people like to read about erotica, and although that is certainly not all that I am known for I do write about it well. You will often think that some will shy away from the conversation in public. However i have found the exact opposite to be true, especially in women. they like to talk dirty, ha!!! And they love to read about it. I would bet that every avid reader has at least one adult book in their possession. I am comfortable with my work whether it is about a mystery, drama, or steamy love. It makes for a great read. Hope you like my short story and if not tell what I can improve on. Thanks!!!
