Chapters 15-21 (2 new)
Feb 15, 2012 07:55AM

55927 Had a question at trivia last night about how many kids Scarlet had in Gone With the Wind. I was an idiot and put two. I think this just proves how irrelevant Ella Kennedy was.
55927 I thought Clark Gable's best movie was GWTW until I saw him in It Happened One Night this past weekend. He is absolutely hilarious!

55927 Eww...yeah I realized the age differences too and I'm only on Chapter 3 since I went back to school yesterday. Hoping to get caught up later tonight after I read for class. :)

55927 Does anyone actually think Ashley is worth mooning over? I find him dull and boring compared to the Tarleton Twins. At least they have a life.
55927 Happy New Year! I'm about ready to dive into the first chapter of Gone With the Wind. Can't wait to discuss the first seven chapters with you all on Wednesday! If you feel like commenting about the book on twitter then use the hashtag #GWTWreadalong. I can be found on there as @literarykate. :)

55927 Hi, I'm Kate! I am the host of this read along and I blog over at Literary Explorations and Absolutely Historical. I enjoy wine, classic films, and historical fiction novels.
55927 Now that everyone is signed-up, here's all the final details:

GWTW has 63 chapters and divided over two months is seven chapters a week. I would like to be able to start discussing the chapters on the Wednesday of each week, so January 4th is when you should have the first 7 chapters (which is essentially part 1) read by. I'll label the message boards to reflect each group of chapters to avoid spoilers. Here are the dates for the assigned chapters:

January

4th- Ch. 1-7
11th- Ch. 8-14
18th- Ch. 15-21
25th- Ch. 22-28

February

1st- Ch. 29-35
8th- Ch. 36-42
15th- Ch. 43-49
22nd- Ch. 50-56
29th- Ch. 57-63

All discussions will take place on this group site but if people are open to twitter we could discuss on there as well. Feel free to email or tweet me if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you in January. I've created an Introduction thread if you want to share a little about yourselves with everyone in the group.
55927 @Susan I do not have a widget but all the information and discussions will take place on goodreads and maybe also on twitter if people are interested. This group page will have all of the up-to-date information and you can always email or tweet me if you have any questions. :)
55927 Also this is the official sign-up link on the blog:

55927 By the way, if anyone needs to contact me I can be reached on twitter @literarykate or by email literaryexplorations(at)gmail(dot)com :)
55927 Alright! So January seems to work for everyone. Do we want to start it on the 1st and read the book in a month or have it January through February to give people time to join in later if January is too busy for them?
55927 I'd love to start this in January. How do you all feel about that?
55927 Great! Feel free to keep posting here until then and we'll start this early next year. If Jan/Feb doesn't work for people we can always move it to spring. My goal is to get a lot of people involved so I'm going to do my best to accommodate everyone's schedules if possible.
55927 So the general consensus is that October-December is super busy for everyone so I think we should move this to January or February. How do all of you feel about this?
55927 Discuss the movie adaptation.
