Rick, thanks for your comments. Two of my three sons are on the autism spectrum, and my middle son falls into the severe/profound end of the spectrum. My experiences with him form the basis for Nick Journey's relationship with Andrew.Thank you so much for your interest. Delighted that you are enjoying COLD GLORY.
Just a teaser about the concept: the idea for COLD GLORY came during the great Oklahoma ice storm of 2007, when I was stuck inside for several days.Nosing about the Web, I found a narrative about the surrender of Robert E. Lee to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House at the end of the Civil War. The account, written by a member of Grant's staff, noted that the two generals were alone for a few minutes before the staffs and others were allowed in to witness the formal surrender.
My immediate thought was: "What did they talk about?"
That's how COLD GLORY was born.
I have one fiancee, two other jobs, and three teenage sons, so I'm often asked, "When do you find time to write?"The answer, of course, is "Whenever I can!"
When I'm working on a book, sometimes I get up at 5 a.m. to grab a few minutes before the kids wake up. Sometimes I catch a few minutes in between assignments at my day job. With my other responsibilities, I'm afraid I'm not able to have a set writing routine (which flies in the face of most writing advice). But that is my situation, and until and unless I am able to sell enough books to warrant leaving one of my other jobs, that's what I must do to support my family.
But, I must write. It's that simple. Even when I'm exhausted from jobs and kids and so on, I need my time to produce the pages. Sometimes it is excruciating...I might write a page in a week. Other times it's exhilarating...I might write 25 pages in a day. So it goes. But I keep at it, because I know I have to write.
Hello...I'm B. Kent Anderson, author of the new historical/contemporary thriller COLD GLORY, being published by Forge on October 11.I'm a longtime radio broadcaster and a recent magazine journalist with four prior pseudonymous paperbacks to my credit. I'm very excited about my new series that begins with COLD GLORY. The stories begin with the American Civil War (during the sesquicentennial of that terrible and fascinating conflict), but the settings are mostly contemporary.
I'm up for answering questions on almost any topic related to the book, my writing process, etc.
Looking forward to interacting with readers here. Stop in often!
