Okay. There was this book that I remember reading as a 9 or 10 year old (so 1989 or 1990) that I LOVED. I think I got it from the Troll book club, but it was about a dolphin in captivity and the trainer/scientist that worked with him. (her? dunno.) The dolphin taught him many things about dolphins...and himself...and then it died. As they do...There was another book by the same author about an orca, I think. What I mostly remember about the book was when the dolphin was dying, the trainer for in the water with it to help it swim and [spoiler for icky parts] (view spoiler) I sobbed and sobbed over that book and loved it to pieces. And I can't remember ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT IT!
Help, please? Anyone remember ANY dolphin books of their youth? Except for Island of the Blue Dolphins, which is the best book EVER....
***EDITED*** This initially was a Wish List section, but I've changed it to "2012 Reading Lists". What can I say, I'm capricious and occasionally full of whimsy.************
Here's the deal. There's a lot of books out there that we want to read and sometimes it's tough to remember them all. GoodReads used to have a BookSwap section that was perfect to use as a wishlist keeper, but that's closing at the end of October. So what's a reader to do?
We're here to help.
Use this section as a way to post your 2012 wishlist/to-read books. Post a new message titled with your name or username and list your wish list or to-read books. Edit it as you go and arrange it however you'd like. Make sure that when you post your list you add it to the group folder titled "Wish Lists".
The advantage of this is that other members can read your list and give you feedback on what you've posted, or maybe even send you the book if they're feeling super nice.*
HTML can be used in posts, as well as posting of book covers. Click on the "(some html is ok)" link at the top of your comment box when posting a comment to get a cheat sheet. Also, an amazing overview has been provided for another group here.
*Any swaps must be handled privately and at the sole discretion of the swappers; the moderator, GoodReads and Kind of a Mess are not responsible for swapping activities. Do not give out your financial or address information to strangers. Please contact Alyssa if you have questions.
Annnnnnd....GO!
Most of us will know each other from the blog.(www.kindofamess.com, you've read it, right?!?) BUT, for those who have not, let's do a short round of introductions. But let's have fun with it.
-Give us a brief blurb about yourself using ten words.
-Tell us your favorite quote that you'd totally put in your high school yearbook and what your current senior superlative is.
-Tell us the WORST book you've ever read.
-And finally, add a question at the bottom of your comment for the person next person commenting to answer.
I'll go first!
Ten word bio: Funny, bi-racial, big-boned, loud, Texan, baker, reader, writer, wife, dog-mommy.
Senior Quote
If I didn't care for fun and such,
I'd probably amount to much.
But I shall stay the way I am,
Because I do not give a damn.
--Dorothy Parker
Senior Superlative

Worst Book I've Ever Read
Crazy for You by Kate Angell. GOD, was it horrible...
And for the person below me; What is your guilty pleasure book or book series - the one you don't want to be caught reading in public?
