aarthi’s comments from the Book Swap for Charity Event(s) - NYC and beyond! group.

All we did was
1. Find a space. We used a party room in someone's apt bldg.
2. Create an invitation on EventBrite. People bought their tickets and EventBrite collected the money and when the event was over, it sent one check to the organization we designated for the charitable contribution (in our case, SSP India, which goes through GROOTS for U.S. donations). We asked people to pay $30 each and we asked them to bring 2 used books for the book swapping activity.
3. Sent the invitation to everyone we know.
4. Looked for event sponsors. We ended up with free soda from Bionade and two free culinary courses from Murray's Cheeses that we could raffle off as door prizes. We bought cheese and crackers and wine and beer to serve.
