57079 Just put it to good use. Learn multiple regression analysis so that you can figure out approximately how many sales you will have if the temperature goes up or down a little or a lot. Figure out what you sales will do if you change a word or a phrase on your website or run a advertisement. Multiple regression can take the guess work out of sales. Here is the site: http://ncss.com/

57079 Caroline that's some positive news. Why do I see so much stuff being published that is just blah. Is it the computer enabling almost anyone the ability to publish or is it niche marketing and large self perpetuating networks. Is it the many who want a few weeks of notoriety. Are these the softcover's that are culled from the shelves of the library after a year. How does one navigate around the business to miss this type of pitfalls.

On the other hand I have been finding many great almost forgotten works that have been added to free google downloads. Hurrah for having access to some of these great books. Maybe publishers in bookstores will catch up to the technology to make perusing these e-books possible - available for downloads or POD at the bookstores. That will really be something.

57079 Thanks Carol I will be looking forward. I just finished the book 2012 Guide to literary Agents that ordained that self publishing was a gimmick destined to keep one from getting his book picked up by agent or publisher. Awful heavy stuff in that book. Seems to a beginner like me to be another dark mark on the publishing industry. Is this true?

57079 Hello I'm Jack Tar. I wrote a memoir / historical piece that deals with many social-historical issues. I have been told by one person that it is too complicated. As it is a true story about my complicated family from Central Connecticut which was a jewel of America before the gilded age and now many areas are considered the worst towns in America.

It deals with the destruction of natural resources - the start of industry - the death of industry and the economy - boxing - and how the media tied it all together.

It's so hard to get a story out and about...

The characters are intriguing and the story starts in my families ancestral neighborhood in Scotland...

Any suggestions would be great. Still needs some work.
