My favorite type of science fiction deals with in depth exploration of alien cultures. I can never get enough of SF like that. That's one of the reasons why I loved A Place Beyond Man: The Archives of Varok.

My favorite type of crossover is alternate history which is essentially a crossover of SF and historical fiction.

Mysteries taking place in alternate timelines would be my vote for something I'd like to see more of.

Our common ground is Tolkien. I re-read Lord of the Rings every summer while sitting on the beach during my teens.
