59617 I just read both volumes of George Knightly Esquire "book" Charity Envieth Not (George Knightley, Esquire; #1) by Barbara Cornthwaite a retelling of Emma from Mr. Knightley's perspective.

Here is my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

The story was good. Watch out if you think you need to just buy this one, though, because the story stops halfway through and you "need" to buy the other volume to finish the story.

The author added interesting detail about what Mr. Knightley did when Emma wasn't around. Emma isn't my favorite Jane Austen novel, but I enjoyed this book. I might have enjoyed this story more than the original (strike me down!)

59617 I also wanted to do everyone the favor of encouraging them to avoid Death comes to Pemberly if they haven't already had the misfortune of reading it. it was truly the worst Austen thing I've ever read or seen.

59617 And I'm reading A Weekend with Mr. Darcy which is a modern adaptation, I guess, and was only $1.99 on Kindle yesterday.

59617 I recommend A Touch of Night for paranormal.
59617 I haven't had as much luck with sequels as with alternate versions or spin-offs of Pride and Prejudice (I also haven't found many alternates to her other books).

I did enjoy Charlotte Collins: A Continuation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Lydia Bennet's Story: A Sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The latter overlaps P& P a bit but calls itself a sequel.

59617 My favorite direct variations are Darcy's Voyage.Darcy On The Hudson: A Pride And Prejudice Re Imagining, and A Touch of Night.

all three stay reasonably true to the characters but also add something completely new.

I am currently reading A Weekend with Mr. Darcy which has different characters (modern day) but references Pride and Prejudice. Tis book is good so far but is progressing too quickly (i want to savor the conflict stage of their story)

I haven't read many spin offs of her other books.
