I haven't checked to see how I did with my challenges/numbers last year but most likely I failed sometimes miserably in some I my goals. Let's try again.eDingus 10
Hot Off the Press 10
Reviews 5
Serial Eyes 20
ABC 26
And the Award Goes to.... 10
I think it's doable.
2024 Challenge Me GoalseDingus: 10
Home Alone: 7
Where's My Card: 10
Yearbook: 15 (2023)
Serial Eyes: 20
Shelving Unit: Historical Fiction: 20
Hot off the Presses: 2024: 10
There'll probably be some overlap.
Well, I may as well set my goals. They may change but for now this is what I think I'll shoot for:Edingus : 10
Hot off the Press : 15
Serial Eyes : 20
Yearbook 2022 : 15
Doorstoppers : 5
Print Library Books: 8 (books borrowed from the Lake Travis Community Library or through the Texas Group Catalog)
Home Alone: 3
Shelving Unit: 7 (Kindle Owned books)
I may add more or make adjustments, but this will keep me on track for now, I hope.
I only picked 4 Challenges in 2022 and missed out on 1 (reading books languishing on my Kindle). I really have to do better on that one next year. Otherwise I did well. Happy New Year! Looking forward to 2023.
I only picked 4 categories this year. So far I've exceeded 1, fallen far behind on 1 but I'm doing "okay" on the other 2. There's plenty of time left to get things done.
I'm going to try to work on those categories that are really important to me. No sense saying I'll work on borrowing books from the library if many of the books I read are borrowed anyway. So.....eDingus 20
Shelving Unit - Kindle Unlimited 25
Yearbook - 2020 - 2022 15
Serial Eyes (no 1st in series) 15
Those are the important ones for me.
I'm almost done with this year so let's see how well (badly) I did.Edingus = 11 of 12 (92%)
Shelving Unit (Kindle Unlimited (ku) = 14 of 20 (70%)
Hot off the Presses 2021 = 13 of 10 (130%) woohoo!
Yearbook 2020 = 13 of 10
Back in the Saddle = 1 of 6 (17%)
Serial Eyes = 31 of 15 (207%)
Where's Your Card Digital/Print Library = 47 of 30 (157%)
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! = 1 of 10 (10%)
Home Alone = 0 of10
That's Unreal Historical Fiction = 15 of 15 (100%)
Well, overall, not so great, but not terrible. There's always next year to become more realistic. We'll see about that.
I put Home Alone on my list every year. Good intentions but I have yet to read one. Just collecting dust. I’ll give them one more try.
I just retried it from my 2021 Goals (message 3) and it worked. I don’t know what was going on when I tried it a while ago. I kept getting a message that said the page couldn’t be found. Anyway it’s working now. Thanks for your patience Almeta.
Almeta, could you please check the link to Where's Your Card? It isn't working for me when I try to access it from my 2021 Goals. I copied and pasted the link but it may be missing something. The 2020 address had %20 at the end of it, and there's nothing at the end of the 2021 address. Does that make a difference? Thanks
That happens to me all the time. I usually go into the challenge, eg. Serial Eyes, to see the actual (real) number of books and "refresh" then go back out and "refresh" again. Magic! Everything is now aligned properly (at least for that particular challenge).
Here we go again: Edingus = 12
Shelving Unit (Kindle Unlimited (ku) = 20
Hot off the Presses 2021 = 10
Yearbook 2020 = 10
Back in the Saddle = 6
Serial Eyes = 15
Where's Your Card Digital/Print Library = 30
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! = 10
Home Alone = 10
That's Unreal Historical Fiction = 15
Here's my final tally:Serial Eyes: 23/15 (153%)
Hot off the Presses: 32/10 (320%)
That's Unreal: Historical Fiction: 27/15 (180%)
eDingus: 9/10 (90%) "close"
Doorstoppers: 0/3 (0%)
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!: 1/10 (10%)
I'm more than fine with the first 3 but the last 2 got lost.
Next year several of the books I have slated for a yearlong challenge are quite long so if I keep the "Doorstoppers" I should do better. And I didn't listen to audio books for a while, plus I misplaced my player so I couldn't anyway.
Next year I hope will be better.
I decided to check to see how well/poorly I'm doing in reaching my 2020 goals. That way I can see where I need to concentrate my efforts, if I want to concentrate. Serial Eyes: 17 of 15 so far (113%)
Hot off the Presses: books published in 2020: 27 of 10 (270% )
That’s Unreal: Historical Fiction: 22 of 15 (147%)
eDingus: 5 of 10 (50%)
Doorstops: 0 of 3 (0%)
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!: 1 of 10 (10%)
So far, I'm doing well in 3 but I need to pick it up for the last 3. Now I can focus.
I didn't achieve all my goals in 2019 (but came close). Let's try again.Serial Eyes: 15
Hot off the Presses: : 10 (2019/2020)
That’s Unreal: 15 (Historical Fiction)
eDingus: 10 (I have so many on my Kindle, I need to make a dent)
Doorstops: 3
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!: 10
Thanks for continuing to do this Almeta. You're list is impressive. I'm convinced you don't sleep.
I haven't completed all my challenges but I'm getting close. ABCs: 18/26
Hear ye, Hear ye: 15/10 (exceeded expectation and can probably add a couple more)
eDingus: 5/8
Reviews: 11/15
Serial Eyes: 10/25 (should have done better on this one)
That's Unreal: 25/15 (exceeded expectations on this one too)
I still have to finish the books I've started but i didn't do too badly.
Here's my tentative list for next year:ABC 26
Hear ye, Hear ye: 10
Edingus (own them and they’re just sitting on my kindle) 8
Hot off the presses (2019) 15
Reviews (need to write more) 15
Serial eyes (need to finish up some that I have going) 25
That's Unreal (Historical Fiction) 15
I may make some adjustments.
Oh dear! I didn't pay enough attention to my challenge commitments. Hear Ye, Hear Ye 14/15
eDingus 3/10
Home Alone 1/5
Leftover Stew 5/10
Serial Eyes 20/20 (that one was easy)
Exactly! Home Alone and eDingus are my most difficult to accomplish. I own the books in some form (print or kindle) so they just lay there gathering dust...no hurry to get to them. I reall need to work on them.
I feel like I'm cheating if I set a goal for a category I know I'm going to "win". I know I'm going to read serial books, and I know I'll borrow most of the books I read from the library. But it is nice to be able to pat myself on the back at the end of the year and say "I did it" at least once or twice. So I'll keep Serial Eyes but work on the ones I have trouble with:Hear Ye, Hear Ye 15
eDingus 10
Home Alone 5
Leftover Stew 10
Serial Eyes 20
