History: Growing up in Vancouver has never been an easy thin, not these days, not ever, and Ismael cruised every bump there was.

With parents more focused on the next party than his own upbringing, "BlueJay" was forced to mature earlier than most, dragging his parents from bars and parties when they became so incapacitated that it was a danger to society and themselves.

It was because of this that his grandmother, a woman of the Lil'wat First Nation, named him Blue Jay, for the protective nature of his brood and those he deemed defenceless. It stuck, to his great irritation and slight pleasure, and even his Quebecois father seemed to approve of it.

So time passed for Ismael, nothing really changing for him or his family. He worked hard, his fascination for forensics leading him to work for that dream.

But college prices are, well, pricey, and working at a small-town cafe was not paying as much as he wanted. He had been living with his grandmother at the time, and had no choice but to return to his parent's teeming place.

Its wear he caught his break. Turns out his father had some rather good friends in the music scene, and a band missing its singer offered a place amongst them, promising better wages than he would ever get busing coffee.
