Thanks for thinking of me Matthew, but I'm committed up to my eyeballs right now! So I'd love to, but the timing isn't right for me. Keep me posted on the project though - sounds right up my alley as to something I'd like to read :-)

Promotion is key to sales. I spent a lot of time on promotion for about 3 months when I released Emily's House and had decent sales. But then I stopped promotion efforts entirely and went back to focusing on writing. Sales went down but I was frankly surprised I continued to sell books even when I wasn't doing anything to keep the book in people's eyes. Go figure.

I am working on an X-files-ish YA science fiction story called H.A.L.F. (Human Alien Life Form). I consider it more speculative fiction than science fiction. By that I mean that it is more about the possibility that aliens landed and government conspiracies exist than it is about science or future science. There are science elements, but I play very fast and loose with science. It's more about character and story, with science just one element.

Don't know if that makes sense ;-)

I consider myself more of a fantasy writer than a science fiction writer and I meld genres liberally!

Keep me posted on your writing and thanks for touching base.

60776 Emily's House is a late Middle Grade/early YA paranormal fantasy with myth and sci fi elements. Not sure where you heard it was a bestseller? It hit bestseller in the YA category for a couple of weeks (top 25) early 2012.
It has done fairly well for a first book/self-pubbed book, especially b/c I stopped all promotion after Feb, 2012 to focus on writing more books.
Have you published yet?
60776 In Emily's House, I touch on physics and metaphysics and spirituality issues. Some of it is oblique. Some of it is specific. Did you wonder whether the science was true? Plausible? Do you have any comments on the metaphysics of magic? This is a place to let your comments and questions out into the ether ; ) Come discuss the physics of the possible and the metaphysics of the magical.
