4. Eunice Lorraine Thompson

Age: 14

Appearance: Eunice is a lean girl with perfect golden blonde, curly hair ,deep-set light blue eyes and stands at about 5'6". Her wardrobe is always proper and made almost exclusively of dresses, blouses and skirts. Her medium-length hair is usually down or pulled into low pigtails.

Summery: Eunice is the daughter of Sanctum's CEO, basically the unofficially mayor of the town who practically puppets the actual town representative. Due to her father's standing and her mother's socialite tendencies she was always looked at as and extension of her parents , rather than her own person. As a result she's always been pressured to be the perfect child who never gets in trouble or dates and always participates in the best extracurricular activities and keeps an A average in school.

Eunice has a secret rebellious side just waiting to come to come out. Heck, she reads banned books for fun (her parents and most other people don't know this of course or she would be banished from Sanctum and her parents may even report her to the police in they ever find her stache .

3. Marisol Maria Aldana

Age: 15

Appearance: Marisol is a girl of Latino who stands at a whopping 5'9" , a lot of this height comes from her long legs. She has long, dark brown hair with a natural wave to it. Most of the time she just leaves it down, but if needed she'll pin it up to get it out of the way. Her skin is tanned and her eyes are hazel. Because of her skin tone she often wears a lot of red and avoids "frilly" clothes if she can help it. Finally, she has a scar on her arm and studs in her ears.

Summery: Marisol and her three older brothers are remnants of a "lost Utopia" which basically means they were born in what is essentially a ghetto to less than stellar parents, but when these type of Utopias were leading to racial riots in the few cities that remained the government based the "Lasting Peace Law" which led to a lot of censorship and more importantly Marisol and her brother being taken away from their parents, their hometown being dismantled and them being transferred to an orphanage with poor conditions in Sanctum, which is the Utopia in which this story takes place. Her and her siblings received scholarships to Sanctum Academy when she was about six and as a result she is devoted to her studies to keep that scholarship and ensure herself a good future. She also has Pyrokinetic abilities (aka she can make and shoot fireballs with her mind).

2. Hotaru Min Liao

Age: 14, almost 15

Appearance: Hotaru is a girl of Chinese and Japanese decent who stands about 5'5" and has a petite build that she maintains to the best of her ability. She had short, black hair and dark green eyes. She reads a lot of fashion magazines, so her clothes and hair style tends to follow current trends. Lastly, she has a heart-shaped birthmark above her chest that she sometimes refers to as a "beauty mark".

Summery: Hotaru's mother was Japanese while her father was Chinese, her parents basically married to spite their families when they were still in the rebellious teen phase. When the rebellion faded they regretted their decision and dove into their careers which led to the excellent positions they have today, but their relationship suffered for it. Eventually they shocked their families again by divorcing, but not before Hotaru and her younger brother, Daisuke was born. They continue to focus on their careers as well, which leads them to showing affection almost solely through gifts. That doesn't work on Hotaru and Daisuke, but they are close with each other, so there's that.

Lastly, Hotaru can use psychometry which means she can touch and object or person and learn personal, sometimes damaging information about the person/ object. Hotaru has used this ability to become an information broker and isn't afraid to blackmail people if she wants something from them (she get's better and she really does care about her brother).

Here is an overview of the 4 main charters in my current work in Progress, THE ENGINEER which is book one in a 4-book Dieselpunk YA story.

1. Effie Anne Hummel

Age: 13. almost 14.

Appearance: Effie is a short, stocky girl with long, messy red hair pulled into two braids. Her light-brown eyes are hidden, by thick, round glasses and her light face is covered in freckles and machine grease. The coveralls she wears in her free time are also covered in grease and only washed when there's no other choice.

Summery: She lives in a world where humanity has been forced into only a handful of cities called Utopias. Somehow psychic powers have also become commonplace, and Effie doesn't have any abilities of her own beyond genius-level intelligence which is a rarity since both her parents do have Psychic abilities (called Psy abilities in most cases). For several years she's been home-schooled due to some bullying in Kindergarten, but she out-learned her parents, but still thirsty for knowledge, as a result her parents decided to send her to Sanctum Accademy, a well- known boarding school that helps stundents learn to control their powers and in rare cases, abilities like Effie has.
