6335 Yup.

I'm still going with this, people :-P

So, I'm about halfway through Darkly Dreaming Dexter (supposedly the October book but dipping into November), and I have a selection - a bit late - for November.

It comes on heels of the sad news of Michael Crichton's recent passing. His book Travels (actually all of his books in a way) opened my eyes to new worlds and areas of inquiry I had not yet thought of. Simply put, when I read I as teenager it gave me a kick in the ass lol. Now that I'm 30 I'm curious to see where it takes me . . .

And Dune . . . erm . . . yeah . . . still reading it, but I WILL finish it! Eventually! Someday!

YES I CAN!

6335 Ok . . . if anyone is paying attention . . . October's book is Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay . . . about a GOOD serial-killer . . . just in time for Halloween . . . have fun!

6335 Ok . . . wow, I am ALMOST (within 50 pages) of being done with IT! So maybe by tonight or tomorrow I'll post my thoughts. Did any of you actually read it?? LOL what did you think?

Oh, and my recommendation for September is *drumroll* the science-fiction classic DUNE. Another one from the category of I-loved-the-movie-always-wanted-to-but-never-read-the-book. So, if you're up for it get to the bookstore and get started!

6335 Still reading . . . very good, as I expected it to be. When I was young the TV mini-series scared the crap out of me and made me a life-long King devotee. This is actually my first time reading it, but I can see how people would rank it up there with The Stand and The Dark Tower as The Man From Maine's three masterpieces. About a quarter through now, this is just an update!

6335 Ok . . . I'm fudging the rules (and so early on!). We (by which I mean me and Joan and, um, I have no idea who else) will continue to plow through IT for a second (bonus!) month.

'Cause it's a big one. A whale of a book.

One could say it's the Moby Dick of novels.

*ahem*

. . . anyone? Anyone?

Right, moving along . . . with all the hospital drama lately I haven't done much reading at all. So, forgive me. We'll finish this one up then start fresh in September (which also happens to be my birthday month!). Alright troops, get engrossed . . .

6335 Well, bad timing all around. MY choice of a hefty novel coupled with my father's hospitilaztion and surgery this week (it all went well!) has left this club dead in the water.

But I'm not one to let a book club go gentle into that good night, no. So, as of the first of August we will start over. I'd really love to hear some suggestions, this could be fun :)

Hope all is well with everyone.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light!
