I think too many of us confuse God with Santa Claus, and think prayer is for asking for something that will "make me happy". Real prayer, imo, is about asking God what I should be doing, what I should be offering, what I should be Being, not what I want to be receiving.

New to the group, and although I've been signed up on Goodreads for a while, I'm only now, having retired, finding time to get involved. I'm a writer, my books are on spirituality and religion, with an emphasis on symbolism and how the sacred stories teach an inner method of awakening. I write, blog, jog, meditate, and delight in being the Dad of my 18-year-old daughter.
