If you're talking 'better' in every characteristic: from temperament to abilities to intelligence to health to entertainment value to status symbol value to social interaction to potential for attracting human friends.....I could be here all night, listing things....
I personally prefer dogs, but it really boils down to individual animals. That's the problem I have with generalisations.
I like dogs for practical as well as emotional reasons. Cats are harder to control if allowed outside, and sadly can easily become motor accident statistics. That's my experience, anyway.
