I'm in! I have an enormous Pile Of Possibilities for April, and I kicked off the month with On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century. Does that count as horror? Or just current events?
The GenreLand group here is still voting on genres/themes for February through December, so if you hurry, you can still get in on that. (January's theme is Snakes.)I've lost track of how many other readathons I'm doing. Book Riot's Read Harder has a group here. So do Popsugar and Booklist Queen. I also do a lot of the challenges and readathons over on BookTube. (I host Mysterious MAYhem in May.)
I'm still figuring out where I am with last year's challenges, but eventually I will get my personal rollover challenge up on my blog here.
I haven't read any holiday books yet, but I AM going to actually sign up for this one. I'm just doing the reading challenge, at the Mistletoe level (read 2-4 books). I don't normally read a lot of holiday-themed stuff, but I know I have several books that have been sitting on my shelf for a long time, so why not now?I'll update this post as I make progress, but one I know I will be reading is Faux Ho Ho.
I did read Faux Ho Ho, and I also read these four:
Apple Cider Slaying
Murder at Melrose Court
The Gift
Homecoming
Some of those I didn't realize were holiday-themed until I started reading them.
I'm still trying to figure out Mastodon, so my goal is to update either there or on YouTube (SkeletonKeyBooks) at least three times a week.https://noctua.social/@noctua/1108136...
Yay! I remembered to sign up! Now, will I remember to post updates in the fediverse? It's weird having my own server. I'm not sure what to do with it. (I'm at noctua at noctua dot social.)
I finally got signed up! (Hey, it's still January 1st here in Colorado.)Today I made a little bit of progress on Children of Time, and I started listening to We Are Legion - We Are Bob. I haven't decided yet what all I will be reading this month, but I'm definitely planning on finishing these two and The Quicksilver Pool.
And I have already deviated from my plan. I listened to some more of Children of Time and devoured V.E. Schwab's Warm Up, which is a prequel to Vicious.
I'm hoping to finish off at least The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and The Cuckoo's Calling this weekend. That may be all I can hope for, since GenreLand book club meets Saturday night and Sunday I'm driving down to Denver for VE Schwab's Vengeful tour. Though I suppose if her signing line is long, I'll have a copy of Vengeful handy to occupy myself with. :-)
Well, first I'm reading pages for the screenplay workshop that meets later today. Then I will try to finish up some of the books I started reading last month!
Hi! I answer to lots of different names, but IRL most people call me Stina. I mostly read (and write) mystery, SFF, and various combinations thereof, but sometimes I like a good nonfiction read. I'm a writer and musician, and occasionally I do temp work grading exam essays to get money for research trips. (Next up: Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy in 2019.) My current WIP is a screenplay I've pitched as Rear Window meets American Psycho. :-) In the background, I'm still tinkering away with my steampunk thriller labor of love, an urban fantasy treasure hunt, and a suspense novel set in Ancient Samnium.
My hobbies include cooking, D&D, dance, and theatre-going.
