I assume that Kobo reads ebooks in the EPUB format (I had a kobo years ago.) If so, you could try the free Calibre ebook reader. It is also capable of translating between many formats.

Try a free software program: Calibre for Mac. It can translate from Kindle's format to EPUB.
Yes, I have noticed that loading books and turning pages can be slow on my Kobo Glo. I wonder, though if the reason could be that I have put a few hundred books on it.
Voula, I agree with cHriS. If the Kobo is still under any sort of warantee, it should be exchanged for a new one.cHriS, your problem sounds similar to one that I had with the Nook "Glowlight" e-reader. It developed a pinhole light leak, and was very distracting. Some investigating turned up that this was a very common problem with the Nook e-reader. That spurred me to give up on it, and get a Kobo Glo. I have had no problems with it, despite heavy use.
These problems seem to develop not because you mishandle it, but just because the screen is delicate, and a slight imperfection in the screen can lead to a problem at some random time.
Thanks for the suggestions, CeDany and Jen. I've tried all of those things, with the exception of the factory default reset.
I have had my Kobo Glo for a year and a half now. I've enjoyed using it, and I have hundreds of books on it (downloaded from the library). But it is showing its age, with two problems. First, the touch screen isn't always responsive. Certain areas of the screen do not respond at all. And, sometimes the page turns occur in the wrong direction, or multiple pages turn at once.
Second, The wifi connection no longer works. It can scan and find our wifi router, accepts my password, but then loses the connection.
Has anybody else seen either of these problems?
I recently upgraded my Kobo Glo to Software Version 2.4.0. I noticed that several little bugs have now disappeared. Most noticeably, the margins are remembered after waking the Kobo up.What are other people's experiences?
I, too borrow E-pub books from my local library. I have a suggestion for you, Shanna. This procedure is a little more complicated, but it should allow you to read books on your Kobo without any limit to the borrowing period.Install Calibre on your computer. Now, when you first download a book from your library to Adobe Digital Editions (ADE), it will have a 2-week limit. But do not immediately download it to your Kobo. Instead, exit from ADE, and start up Calibre, and "add" the book from the ADE directory, thus bringing it into Calibre. Then connect your Kobo to the computer, and upload your book(s) to the Kobo using Calibre.
For me, this procedure removes the borrowing time limit for all e-pub library books. I hope it works for you, too!
I am a new member to this group--I recently purchased a Kobo Glo. With the new firmware (version 2.4.0), all of my issues (losing margins and settings) with the Glo have disappeared!David, I also load all my books onto a microSD card. I have not noticed any loss of annotations or bookmarks with it.
Previously, I had been using a Nook Glowlight. However, the screen developed a pinpoint hole that made the light shine through--very disconcerting, and makes the Nook's glowlight practically unusable. Since then, I've read that it is a common problem with the Nook. But I've never heard of such a problem on a Kobo Glo! In addition, the Kobo Glo's frontlight illuminates the screen more evenly than the Nook. The Nook does have a "home" button, but I don't miss it on the Glo.
So, I've been quite happy with the Glo!
