Bummer!
Anji wrote: "that is really annoying and frustrating that we cannot get a copy of The Five!! I haven't read "Hunter... didn't realise it featured the character from "Wolf's Hour" will definitely have to get a c..."I'm not promoting Kobo ereaders, necessarily, but right now "Hunter From the Woods" is $2.99 and "The Five" is $6.99 on the Kobo site. I downloaded the free Kobo app for my iPad and read "The Five" that way. If you have a smartphone, I think you can do the same thing.

I read Gone South a loooong time ago, but I do remember enjoying its quirkiness. I agree with you about some of Blue Worls's strong stories. I just not a big "short story" guy.
Have you read Hunter From the Woods?
Todd,I didn't continue with the Corbett Series after the first book, so my ranking won't contain any of those books. Here's my list:
Swan Song (one of my favorite books-period)
Boy's Life
Gone South
Mine
They Thirst
Stinger
The Wolf's Hour
Usher's Passing
The Five
Baal
Blue World
Night Boat
Mystery Walk
Bethany's Sin
(haven't read Hunter From the Woods yet)
Just finished the book and was glad to find out that the last hundred pages really pulled it all together. Not necessarily my favorite McCammon book, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
I'm about 3/4ths done with the book and have had a complete mixture of feelings about it. It has been depressing, thoughtful, inspiring, and plodding.I enjoy the "True" character, but am having trouble liking any of the "Five". The introduction of the "Connor" character has added a real odd scenario to the book. Here's hoping for a big finish.
'Bout a quarter through the novel and still can't figure which direction it will take. But, I'm enjoying it and it's staring to pick up speed. Reminds me more of McCammon's "Boy's Life" and "Goin' South"-type novels.
