This Friday I'll be doing a reading at a Seattle coffeehouse, Wayward. In preparation for that, I've been researching, and I found something else by Mary Robinette Kowal. This time it's a two-part video called, "Tips for Reading Fiction Out Loud". It pretty much covers the information in the multi-part blog post I linked to earlier, as well as what she covered in the Norwescon panel I attended.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg7xY_...
Last weekend I attended Norwescon, and was fortunate enough to catch a panel run by Mary Robinette Kowal on how to do a reading. She covered a lot of basics, and referred us to her website for a full series of how-tos.These tips are intended for those doing public readings in rooms full of people, but most of the advice holds true.

Neil Gaiman has posted a reading of the first eight chapters of The Graveyard Book. I haven't had time to watch these yet, but hey, it's Neil Gaiman!View them here at his site: http://www.neilgaiman.com/p/Cool_Stuf...
A list of videos posted in the "Readings" channel can be found here: http://www.goodreads.com/videos?chann...Use this as a source to discover readings. Link to and discuss your favorites here.
HuffPo has a good article on ways authors can be better performers. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lev-rap...
Huffington Post has a tag "Author Readings", which doesn't have much in it (yet?) but does link to some readings and discusses various trends.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/aut...
This folder is for anything related to author readings, especially video author readings. Share links to related news and discussion. You can also introduce yourself here. My name is Luna Lindsey, and I have seen several video readings online, but noticed they don't seem to be organized anywhere. There are no lists, and googling various terms doesn't turn up much. For now, readings just seem to be some random authors trying it out, or videos of public readings.
I would like to see more of this type of medium.
I also just created my own reading, and found the process interesting and challenging. I wanted a place where authors could discuss this. (In a separate folder, of course.)
Readings are "a thing" at science fiction conventions, coffee shops, and bookstores. I'd really love to see it become "a thing" on the internet.
