68008 Oh boy, the future doesn't look so good. They should teach the basic bible in schools with instruction in all the different religious views as a sociology course. I know that is offered in college. We're talking about a whole generation that will eventually lead the world.

68008 Excellent, I can say no more.

68008 That's the whole idea, religion taught me right from wrong, the punishment of doing wrong, the fear of going to Hell for misdeeds. How to live life as, or as close to, how Jesus lived. The biggest ever, knowledge of Jesus. So who is the role model for the new generation?

68008 How true those words are. I wouldn't doubt in the present time that we have the highest number of unbelievers of all time. My own family has a whole generation of children raised without the benefit of religion of attending church. Baffles me as we were raised to be good Catholics and never missed church on Sunday and holidays. Where will these children/adults learn right from wrong?

68008 I totally agree, my personal motto is "Nothing in life is good unless you share it." I don't talk it I do it.

68008 Very complex and difficult to wrap my brain around this. I've not seen this quoted before and don't remember the passage either. I have indeed learned something here but I sure hate the sacrificing of lambs. Does God really want us to kill animals in his name? Thinking of those poor, innocent, sacrificed lambs, are they eaten after sacrificing? I know sometimes they were burned according to scriptures, another waste.

68008 Sigh, if only the majority of people thought this way it would be a wonderful world.I think the biggest problem affecting society today is lack of any kind of religion. Families don't go to church anymore. Children receive no religious upbringing like I did so how are they going to know what is right or wrong?

68008 I remember that episode very well, I never missed any Star Trek or spin off episodes. I agree with you, they were well ahead of their time in elevating human morality.

68008 The 'elderly' are the most treasured people we have. Living history books, an asset not tapped into as much as we should. No one is useless unless they have totally lost their ability to think. They have TIME to share, to care, volunteer, demonstrate and earn if they wish. So many children in need of tutors, reading impaired wanting to learn to read, old folks homes full of lonely people, just want someone to talk to. Some need help eating because they are physically impaired but their minds are not. A real shame our country dumps their elderly off at nursing homes and never go back to visit. There's also those who never had children/married and have survived all friends and family, waiting for their time to come, so lonely. I'm not yet 'old' I don't think but there is so much to do, so many who need help, there's not enough hours in the day to do it all.Jobs for those retired over age 65? Tons of them and Social Security allows one to make at least 10k on top of Social Security without losing benefits. Bagging groceries, working the library, sales clerks, people greeters at big stores. Delivery drivers for drug stores, laboratories and medical supplies to name a few.
