I got 7 points! It would've been 10 but I didn't switch to one of my lighter books for a good LOL. Oops!Black author 2
Cold beverage 1
Finished long ago book 2
Reading outside 2
I finished 2 books and made a teeny progress on a 3rd book.
my comfort books are cookbooks or anything on decluttering and organizing. I love these books in general because I love food and decluttering. especially during the pandemic, I think these books help me feel like i have control over my immediate environment.I wish i could think of a good author collaboration but names escape me lol
I finished Outlaw Marriages (yay!) and read a few more pages of Between the World and Me. I didn't plan on including Happy Gut but I returned to it when I saw I could get points for it! I started it back in August and got halfway through before setting it aside. Hopefully I'll finish!
Also in my stack to try to make progress on is Naturally Tan, Red White and Royal Blue, and Forest of Enchantments.
Checking in! Just got about 30 min of reading done on my living room couch in the quiet and rainy suburbs of Chicago! In hand was a cold mug of mimosa lol
Omg.. listening to this jogged my memory and I totally pulled a Bunbury in college. I had part of a group paper to turn in and totally emailed everyone without attaching the doc. A few hours later, a group member calls to ask me to attach and I said I couldn't because it was on my computer at school and I had just left to go home unexpectedly for a death in the family. In reality, our room went on a road trip and the death was my hamster from like a week prior. *eep*
Oh! Also "Where the Heart Is", I love the movie more than the book. I think I just liked the actors portrayals better than how the book described them.
I love the movie The Joy Luck Club so much more than the book but I think it's due to timing when each came into my life. I saw the movie as a kid and it resonated with me due to a strong Asian female representation and so much familiarity in the mother-daughter relationships. I didn't read the book until I was a teen and by then the movie solidified a place in my heart and the book just couldn't break those vault walls lol
I need to make a shelf for translated books on GoodReads! a serious organization session is coming up!
I am so behind on podcast episodes and I'm listening to this one about memoirs and I want to be able to jump in the convo but I cant because its recorded lol I love memoirs and I have so many differing thoughts and takes to some of your notes. Also my title is "I'm Still Hungry" which is obviously food driven but applies to other parts of life.
Something must be going around because I feel a slump coming on for myself. I think my problem is being indecisive about what to read next. I have a pile of library books to tackle, a stack of 'started but never finished' books, a few new books that I bought knowing there's a huge basket of other purchases I need to read. Sigh. What is a bookworm to do?
8:00 PM CHECK IN #13: It's over already! How many hours did you read? How many points did you earn?I read about 3 hours and earned 8 points. Sigh. Life sure does get in the way of reading sometimes!
12:00 pm Check In #9: Where's Your Favorite Reading Spot? Cozied up in the corner of our living room couch.
2:00 PM CHECK IN #10: What's your favorite book-to-screen adaptation?
I like several but can't think of a favorite. I guess the HP series would top the list. I liked how The Lovely Bones turned out (only comes to mind because it was on TV earlier).
4:00 PM CHECK IN #11: What bookish podcasts do you listen to?
Just the ER podcast for now. I was listening to a few others but found it tough to follow some because I hadn't read the books they discussed.
6:00 PM CHECK IN #12: Do you book journal? (Premade? Bullet Journal? GoodReads?)
I mainly use GoodReads for tracking my TBRs and finished books. I like it for recommendations too. I also keep paper lists in one of my many notebooks to track the books I want to use for the reading challenges I participate in.

I love a good spreadsheet tracker!
10:00 AM CHECK-IN #8: WHICH CHARACTER FROM THE BOOK YOU'RE READING WOULD YOU INVITE TO BRUNCH?Well I'm in between Uncommon Type and Ruin & Rising. From Uncommon Type, I'd like to have brunch with Virgil's family - his story is set in 1953 and he's a WW2 vet, married to a wife who is still crazy for him, and has 3 kids who all sound super sweet. I think it'd be a nice family meal. :) From Ruin & Rising, I'd brunch with Genya (maybe book 1 version of her) because I think she'd be a hoot and we'd so be getting dressed up and eating fancy!
Jeannette wrote: "Guys, I have finished 3 books so far this readathon: Sky in the Deep, A Man Called Ove, and The Case of the Unwelcome Visitor. How's everyone else's ..."Nice! I've started 2 as opposed to finishing. I will probably start 1 more at least. This wasn't the readathon of finishing for me, but clearly trying to use it to break my reading slump!
Well I fell asleep shortly after midnight and the book I was reading at the time was "Ruin and Rising" by Leigh Bardugo so I'll use that for my check-ins:12:00 AM Check-in #3: MIDNIGHT DANCE PARTY! Post a Youtube link of a song that reminds you of your current read.
The book is about a Darkling and a Sun Summoner so I went with Fall Out Boy's "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)"

2:00 AM Check-in #4: WHAT'S YOUR DREAM LIBRARY/BOOK NOOK LIKE?
I dream of having a home office and in one corner is a big plush purple arm chair and foot stool. There's a big basket next to it on one side with an assortment of blankets to choose from. On the other side is a small side table with a cup of coffee (or tea if the mood is right) and a stack of TBRs and a small reading lamp for night time reading. There's a floor to ceiling shelf full of my books alone one of the office walls filled with other book related knick knacks (like my Harry Potter wand). There's lots of natural light a view to a beautiful green yard or garden full of colorful flowers.
4:00 AM Check-in #5: DO YOU HAVE A NIGHTTIME BOOK/READING ROUTINE?
I didn't really before but I just started doing this more consistently - I try to read at least 15 min ( a physical book is preferred) after taking a shower and getting ready for bed. After reading, I try to meditate a little bit which helps me fall asleep easier.
6:00 AM CHECK-IN #6: PAIR YOUR BOOK WITH A FOOD/BEVERAGE.
Ruin and Rising - right now everyone's still in a cave underground and apparently they eat porridge and stew and not so great bread. For myself, I'd pair the book with a big bowl of beef stew and some crusty/chewy bread. Yum!
8:00 AM - CHECK-IN #7: IF YOU HAD TO SUMMARIZE YOUR CURRENT READ IN A HASHTAG, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
#TeensWithTooMuchPower (get it? power, Grisha? har har)
I'm here for the time check! but not awake enough to be clever and come up with a song. I'll try in the morning though....
