Stephanie wrote a good chunk of the first book from Edward's point of view, then released it to a few people. One of these people released it to the public. She was so disgusted that she stopped writing it then and there. If you go to her website, you can read her reaction, and you can also read the part she wrote from his point of view. She figured it had already been released, so she just put it up on her website. You can tell by reading it that she was really hurt by its release. It's sad really, cuz that would have been awesome.

Oh, and there's been stories and books about vampires having children ever since the myths of vampires started. It's not like she's the first. She just took a myth, interpreted her own way.
