Here's a short review of a collection of short stories. Dick King-Smith's Animal Storieshttp://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
After the poetry class last semester, I wrote a review of my all time favourite collection of children's poems: Where the Sidewalk Endshttp://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
The Kissing Hand was recommended to me by my best friend's mother who is a teacher in the United States as a favourite story of the children in her class who have just started school. I am always interested what is popular in children's literature in other countries, in addition to the home-grown favourites. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I absolutely adore wordplay and Norton Juster's The Phantom Tollbooth is a funny tale of puns and clever use of everyday turns of phrase: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Hello everyone, while I finish off some more children's literature reviews, I noticed that there is a documentary on ITV3 later today (5.45pm) about Roald Dahl. Since many have reviewed his work, maybe you may be interested in tuning in as preparation for the big Day One tomorrow? More details: Perspectives: David Walliams - The Genius of Dahl
ITV3
Series 2, Episode 4
Actor and comedian David Walliams explores the magic behind the storytelling of Roald Dahl, one of the world's most successful children's authors. To try to understand the great writer's special touch, David immerses himself in Dahl's stories and characters. In Cardiff, Dahl's birthplace, David finds out about the Norwegian folktales that Dahl was read as a child and visits his old sweetshop and school. He also goes to Dahl's legendary writing hut and discovers early drafts of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With contributions from Dahl's family as well as long-time illustrator Quentin Blake, Joanna Lumley, Michael Rosen, Tim Minchin and biographer Donald Sturrock.

She has limited speech and this helped to extend her vocab. Dr. Seuss would be a great to read for anybody who is doing the PGCE Early Years.
