721 Hi all,

I'm very pleased to announce the official launch of my first novel The Beast Without in Australia in November. The book is now available via online sellers, has gotten some great reviews and is being sold through a couple of stores in Canada, but this will be its 'official' release on home soil, and in its home setting, so I can't wait!

The Beast Without by Christian Baines

This dark paranormal follows Reylan, a settled and sophisticated vampire happily feeding off the men of Sydney's Oxford Street district. It explores his budding relationship with Jorgas, a young werewolf, who crashes into his life, unsure of his place in the world. In fact, he's already lashed out at the cost of several lives. Reylan is roped by a mysterious organisation of supernaturals into tracking down the beast before anyone else gets hurt. But are his feelings for Jorgas more complex than he wants to admit?

If you'd like to know more about the novel, click the cover for its Goodreads page, or visit the official publisher's site here: http://ipoz.biz/Titles/TBW.htm where you'll find reviews, an extract and other info.

I'll be launching the book at events in Brisbane and Sydney, and hopefully Melbourne, but will post details here when confirmed.

Also feel free to look me up on Facebook and Twitter. I do bite when asked nicely and occasionally post interesting pictures of cats.

Best of reading to you all!

Christian

721 Noted, and no problem! Thanks for preserving the post.

721 A couple of others mentioned her, but I've also been a fan of Keri Arthur for quite a few years. A lot of fun if you like paranormal and a slightly alternative Melbourne. It seems to be the go-to city for urban supernatural stories set in Aus. Well, most. :)

721 I think you're using part of the reason they've dried up. Plus, the major newspapers in Australia usually have a tiny literary editorial staff (if at all) with a towering forest of unread books decorating their office, all hoping for review.

I haven't run the gauntlet of Australian review outlets for my book yet, so I look forward to that experience. But I have hit blog sites in my genre individually. Most of my reviews so far have come from readers, and the fact that you can get a consensus among readers on Amazon or GR so quickly takes some degree of power from the papers.

I think they'll always have a place, as will lit critics, but maybe more as facilitators of discussion and opinion, rather than 'reviewers' - and isn't that more fun to write and read anyway?
721 Hello. Aus author here who would love to be added to the list. Thanks! :)
