Well..... except me, and people like me. Which was kinda my point.
721 I wouldn't know whether Dymocks offers personalised service to walkies - the store isn't accessible. Big W though, I can get around it. Doesn't matter how many times I complain - Dymocks has no interest in providing customer service to the likes of me.

Which is why it really annoys me when people (not here) harangue and harangue about how "we" should all be patronising specialist bricks 'n' mortar bookshops because of their supposedly amazing and caring customer service.
721 ACK Brenda! Do spoiler tags work in discussion groups? Cos that thing NEEDS them.

721 $3.20 for a reserve?? Reserves are a basic function of libraries, in my opinion. Ours is free for reserves, interlibrary loans, ebooks, Zinio magazines, etc etc. There's a late fine, or a replacement fee if you lose a book, and that's it.

721 I love my Kobo Glo too. If you go to Officeworks, they happily do a price match + 5% further off. Price matching to Harris Tech's price brought my Kobo Glo price down to around $131!

721 I've never used a screen protectector with my iPad, iPhones, or Kobos. The Kobo's SleepCover is always closed when I'm not reading, so it has no opportunity to get scratched up.

I tried a protector once with my iPhone, and hated the feel and the way it changed responsiveness a little. Now I throw my naked phone, just with a back shell, into my pocked or bag, and I have done this for years without a problem. (I wouldn't do that with an ereader, though; the substrate can crack easily from twisting forces or pressure. Always use a good case with an ereader.)

721 I adore my library. No charges to reserve books (or CDs or DVDs), or for interlibrary loans within the State system, which I use liberally! We can go to any of four branch libraries without our Council to borrow/return books.

They've started an Overdrive ebook borrowing system, which works well, although the current offerings are a bit limited. They have also just started offering Zinio access, so I can get magazines on my tablet for free - which is awesome.

The only thing we've ever paid for is a nominal $2 fee for children's school holiday events, many of which have craft materials, etc supplied. They do have late fees, but I can't remember the last time I've paid one. I'm a fast reader, there is web access to the details of your borrowings and to renewals, and you also get an email three days before an item is due.

721 Brenda: bookdarts.com :) Sadly they can be hard to find in Australia, but they're small and light so easy to order from overseas.

721 I adore Book Darts. Being able to mark not just my page but my line is great, and they don't fall out.
