For my classic literature assignment, I read The Red Pony. It was about a boy who lived with his parents on a farm. His dad give him a horse to look after when he was little and he fell in love with it. But it was all too soon. The horse died and he was very upset. His dad then surprised him with a pony of his own. The boy had to take care of the pony after it got sick and few years after he got it. In the end the pony died and the boy was heartbroken again. I would recommend it to others because it is a very touching story. By where we live, a lot of people can put themselves in the place of the boy.

I read All the King's men. It was a pretty confusing plot but it all came together in the end. It was about a man that was high in politics, and to stay at that status had to destory evidence of his wrongdoing. I liked the play, but it was different reading it than a regular book. I would recommend it because it always kept you on the edge of your seat was going to happen next by the drama present inbetween characters.

For example the author of the book (the man who hiked the trail) didn't want to hike alone, so he asked his old friend to come with him. He had been battling weight gain and they often told jokes about how out of shape they were and how slow their pace was. Another time they got separated and had to find each other. It gave me a good laugh.

For the summer reading I read "A Child Called It" and "Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl". I really liked Anne's story because of my love for World War II events, but I have to say that A Child Called It would be my favorite of the two. Anne Frank is about a teenage girl that is a Jew in Holland during the 1940's. They have to hide from the Nazi's in a secret annex and eventually get captured. Anne ends up dying in a concentration camp. It is a autobiography. On the otherhand, a child called it was about a child who was abused. His mother did terrible "games" on him that would almost kill him. She starved him, and tortured him to no end. He now goes to schools and tells his story. He is an inspiration and I loved his autobiography. I really enjoyed the two books that I read over the summer. They were very thrilling and interesting, as well as extending my knowledge on many vocabulary words and history facts.

One of my favorite book when has to be A Walk In the Woods. It's a book about how these two men hike the Appalachian trail. It is a nonfiction book and they run into a bunch of troubles. It made me laugh the whole way through and was just a great plot for a comedic book. I want to hike the Appalachian Trail when I get over, so it really came to me as an interesting book.
