I'm reading The Moon Maid by Edgar Rice Burroughs and plan to read The Moon Men next, followed by the third in the series, The Red Hawk.
You obviously have to start with the Steampunk classics, the books that started it all: James Blaylock's The igging Leviathan, Homunculus, Lord Kelvin's Machine, The Adventures of Langdon St. Ives (collects the 3 books and the stories) and his new ones: The Ebb Tide, The Affair Of The Chalk Cliffs and Zeuglodon. And then there's K. W. Jeter's Morlock Night and Infernal Devices.Other necessities are H. G. Wells and Jules Verne's science fiction and some of Robert Louis Stevenson's adventures that inspired Blaylock to write this type of fiction.
